Agreed. But either way, it's great for the loser. Using the "UFC Vet" on his resume will help him get a 2k/2k deal elsewhere, rather than 250/250.......

Kind of funny. CM Punk wanted to leave the pro wrestling world, has said all the right things, really just stayed low key. So it at least made it possible to want to cheer for him. But UFC just turned him heel by doing this. Fighters have to prove themselves and win in order to fight an unproven fighter.
UFC might think it's building up Punks début but it's making it more difficult than it needs to be. Enough people already want to see him fail. At least have him fight a similar opponent experience wise. His eventual opponent will now have experience fighting in the UFC with more time training.
Punk thought he left the nonsense of the pro wrestling world. But it turns out he just stepped into the real world nonsense of combat sports that pro wrestling is based on.

I like Mickey Gall, he wins that fight against CM. He's got a purple in BJJ and has some real skill from what I understand. He'll be off to a nice 2-0 start in the UFC.

The problem I have with this is that other people had to fight real fighters.
Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir(1st UFC fight, 2nd ever fight)
James Toney vs Randy Couture
Kimbo Slice vs Roy Nelson on TUF.
The UFC is where you go to fight the top fighters in the world.
What's worse about this "trial fight" is that it gives CM Punk an advantage to then have fight footage on his opponent, something neither of his opponents will have on him. That's pretty much the definition of rigging the game.

The problem is we're getting fights barely above amateur level in the UFC. It doesn't matter where it's placed on the card, this fight shouldn't be on it at all.
