Not even a question, Sonnen.

It'll be weird cause didn't Munoz and Silva train together?

Ya they have before for different fights. Silva has brought him in to help with his wrestling and with Munoz's stand up. But I think that it would be a more respectful type of fight. Those guys dont train together all the time so I dont think it would be weird.
As for the original question, its tough to decide. Whoever they give it to I would be fine with. While Munoz has done enough by beating Maia and Leben, Sonnen did give Silva the best test he has ever had.
Also dont forget, Silva vs Sonnen II was booked before Sonnen got into trouble.
Silva vs Sonnen II
Munoz vs Shields

More Deserving: Munoz. Sure, they both just stopped formidable opponents, but Sonnen broke the law a few times (that we know of). And if you use street math, you usually multiply each crime that a hoodlum has been caught doing by 5 (the actual number of times he has done it). Therefore, he does not deserve the title fight just yet.
I would Rather See: Sonnen. This rematch would ACTUALLY be "The Most Anticipated Rematch in UFC History" (even though I'm sure they've said that a few times already). Munoz and Silva are friendly, and probably wouldn't try to take each other's head off. Silva and Sonnen are like Batman and the Joker, and should make for an awesome fight, rergardless of who comes out on top.

Well street math is usually used in street crimes, not white collar crimes. If you are talking about theft, drugs, or murders then sure but usually you just take steroids or get in trouble for tax evasion and its all one long thing.

If vitor belfort beat AJ than Munoz should fight him for the number one spot if vitor losses than Munoz fights winner of bisping/miller for number 1 spot, but atm its clear cut Sonnen deserves it way more, who cares if silva has not beaten Munoz that has nothing to do with him being ahead of chael in the peaking order its not like chael lost badly and got smashed to a point where theres no point for a rematch. Rich Franklin basically got a title shot rematch after getting killed by silva after only two wins so i see no reason why chael won't.

RP, I think Chaels *** whooping of Stann and the fact that his only loss since 2009 was to Anderson makes him nearly as deserving as Munoz based on victories against Dolloway, Simpson, Maia and Leben.

This right here makes no sense.
1. Chael has already lost to Anderson and Munoz hasn't. That right there should be able one reason to put Munoz ahead of Sonnen
2. Your saying his only loss since 2009. That in itself is skewing it. He didn't fight for what 1 year after he
LOST
to Silva and in that time frame Munoz went what 3-0 and was able to beat a guy that dominated Sonnen in Maia.
3. Sonnen's UFC record 5-4 (5-3 at MW) Since January 2009 (3-2)
Munoz's UFC record 7-2 (7-1 at MW) Since January 2009 (7-2)

The already lost to Anderson argument is as lame as the Fitch lost to GSP argument. It shouldn't put anyone ahead of anyone else.
Who did Munoz go 3-0 against ? Barely beat Maia(IMO) C.B Dolloway and beat Leben, a guy that got dismantled by Stann. Munoz needs another top 10 guy. Id like to see him fight Palhares actually. But it will likely be the winner of Bisping vs Mayhem which either way could be a favorable matchup for Munoz.

you guys think he won't fight anderson? If he won't fight him theres no way he would fight mayhem a guy he trains full time with at the same gym.

Don't expect to see Mayhem vs Munoz after Mayhem wins...just sayin.
Munoz vs Palhares or Belcher would be fun.

Sonnen.
A win over Leben is not that big of an accomplishment. Sure he always has a punchers chance but lets face it, he is on the back 9 of his career. Always had the talent but never put it together. The new breed of fast well rounded fighters just push the pace for him too much.
His most recent wins are over Simpson, Sexiama, Wanderlai.
Wanderlai was the only guy in the top 10 when it happened
and his style was perfect for Leben. Anyone with wrestling and half a brain can defeat Leben

Obviously you dont know the rankings.... Wandy hasnt been close in a long time.... Hes like 2-10 since hes been in the UFC

No offense but calling someone out for subjective rankings is kind of lame....and Silva is ALWAYS dangerous, he just beat Bisping before that. He's 1-1 as a UFC MW.

More deserving - Munoz.
More anticipated - Sonnen. (though i would rather see the Mr. Anderson v Dan Henderson rematch first.)

chael had a close loss to silva and has turned around and made it controversial with his mouth. a good strat. he totally destroyed stann and showed no signs or ring rust. Also that was deemed number 1 contenders fight and everyone was talking about how anderson had cleaned out the division after chael.
now look munoz is 7-1 and looked great in the fight with leben. I'd say give munoz 1 more guy ranked about equal with him maybe a little worse let him stay active. The next shot should go to mayhem bisping since dana is dying for a british title shot and if mayhem wins itl be a popular fight as well. no need for munoz to rush hes still improving dramatically every fight. I think he just needs 1 more let him build give him another name.

This makes the same sense now that it did 3 weeks ago when the majority of fans wanted to see Sonnen X Silva. Then along comes Munoz who completely smashes Leben and the majority of fans still want to see Sonnen X Silva.
The fans have spoken Dana. Pretty clear what you have to do. You owe it to the fans and to Silva to make him fight this fight.
Look at it this way. You could have Sonnen tool Munoz first, but wouldn't that make it even more frightening for Soares?

I vote Sonnen. I think Munoz needs to win another one. Plus considering that Sonnen has won 4 out of 5 rounds against Silva he should get another chance.

Munoz deserves the shot far more than Chael Sonnen. It's not even a question.
Chael lost more recently, and not only lost, but was finished.

Let them fight. Leban was bodyslamming munoz, let sonnen tear him apart and then take the belt

If Silva takes too long to recover, they could announce Sonnen vs Munoz as a #1 contender match with no problem !

Sonnen OWNED Yushin Okami, beat up Nate Marquardt, and just rolled through Brian Stann. Yes, he was finished, by ANDERSON f---ing SILVA all the while giving Silva the toughest fight of his UFC career. Munoz got OWNED by Okami, barely beat Maia and just beat Chris Leben who isn't exactly in title contention.
Sonnen MUST get the next title shot at Silva.
