A handful of things is plaguing this movie/DCEU. (I'm having @osubuckeye4 type inspiration tonight)

A) they need to tell these young women to, essentially, "shut up and dribble." The right or left are looking for anything to try and knock a movie down. Milly said something like "This movie isn't for Christian dads". (Reporter got is "gitcha moment). That's going to turn off a lot of people.
Just say " It's a really good movie and I think everyone will enjoy it". She needs to take a page out of Rachel Brosnahan (??). She gave a great interview that seem to include all positive stuff.

B) Everyone wants each movie to be The Batman or The Winter Soldier. Most comic book movies are closer to thor or GOTG 2 than the Darkknight. But for some reason, they can't understand that.

C) Batman is easier to make because he is so flawed and isn't a "god". Superman/girl are gods. The big knock on them is "they are too strong, can't develop them, blah blah". Gunn tried, but people got mad..."Superman got beat up the whole time, etc" Well if he wasn't nerfed then fanboys would cry "HES TOO OP!"

Snyder kind of screwed the pooch by giving us "adult heros" but with mid stories. MOS was mid, visually stunning, but just OK. BvS was also mid. Some bad casting and weird takes.

He also tried to cram 10years of MCU story telling into 2 movies. Which was a mess, then his daughter died, which is awful, so he had to leave and couldn't continue his vision.

Fans liked the darker take, but once again his movies are mid. But it makes fans either pro Snyder or pro Gunn. I see both sides arguing on which Supes is better.

Supergirl almost had no shot at being, well Super, with all this baggage. It didn't help that the movie was fine, but not great. Superman was pretty good but not great, people wanted this to be better, but it wasn't.

The next Gunn DCEU movie needs to be a MASSIVE hit, IMO, or he is out.

I think this kind of stuff is overrated, if the movie is good and has some kind of hype or famous actors almost nobody gives a fuck about their politics

Usually, but not in this weird Disney MCU DCUE realm of films, it matters.
Marvels not really affected because they started before all of this DEI stuff hit, but their phase 3 or is it phase 4, has definitely taken a dive. Hence bringing back RDJ for the new Doomsday.

Superman did pretty good, had its critics, but overall it did well. No DEI or any of the actors saying anything dumb.

Outside of actors/actresses saying, "don't take your young kids to see this one" about a movie that is rated a hard R... it's bizarre to me when any of these people attached to $75+ million blockbuster movies try to tell large segments of their audience that they will not enjoy their project, or that it's "not for them".

The crazier part is that studios watch what someone like Rachel Zegler did to a project like Snow White with her idiotic press tour, and think "yes, we definitely want her attached in future projects!". I really don't understand how any of that works.

To Diznee's credit, they seem to have learned their lesson (with Zegler). No future projects with her attached from them.

Right, that's the crazy part to me... she's got multiple projects in the works/being shopped around.

Why pre-alienate 30+% of your audience by having her attached to anything you're doing?

Is Spielberg running some kind of Epstein type operation where he is forcing people to hire this chick?

The Bear (Season 5, final season)

This show has had a really weird trajectory. Seasons 1 and 2 were fantastic. Seasons 3 and 4 were overindulgent crap.

The final season was... weird.


For starters, they completely change the format for the show out of nowhere and go 24 mode where every episode immediately follows the prior one, and it all takes place over the course of a single day/food service.

It's not terrible... but it's very odd to pull that kind of a shift for a final season, and it ultimately felt desperate and hokey.

I don't even really know how to rate this one. There's one-off moments where it's great, and there are a few characters (Richie for one) that really stand out... but they are surrounded by over sentimental nonsense and plot driven contrivances that make you roll your eyes and wonder why they bothered to continue it at all.

If you're pot committed like I was and have stuck thru it to this point... might as well see it thru. It's not awful, but fair warning... it's also not a return to form from the earlier seasons.

If you've never watched the show, go ahead and watch the first 2 seasons (they are worth it) and then pretend like the ends there.

I'll probably knock this out over the weekend when we have downtime. I don't even like the show anymore, but I've invested my time over 4 seasons so I have to see how it ends. But seasons 1 and 2 were so good that I thought this show was gonna rival BB and Better Call Saul as my favorites of all time. Then it just fell off a damn cliff after that.

Daredevil: Born Again (Season 2)

It had some really good moments, but might be my least favorite season since it started on Netflix.

Bringing back Jessica Jones did nothing for me. Apparently, s3 is all about bringing back the rest of the "Defenders," even Iron Fist...😐.

I don't have a good feeling about s3 at all.
 
Spider-Noir

Finally finished the last few episodes of this one. I have to say that it has some slow moments that almost throw it off, but it has several great moments that put it on. You need to go into this wanting to see a bit of comic-book shit, a bit of of 1930s detective drama, and a lot of Nic Cage actually trying, which we all love.
