Movies/TV (Reviews)

Saw Supergirl yesterday. It's nowhere near as bad as some people are making it out to be. I find most of those people are Snyderbots who are still butthurt that he got fired and James Gunn took over. That said, it's not great in any way, shape or form. It's just kinda there. It's not even really a superhero movie at all, it's just a movie about a superhero. It was like if you're playing a game like Skyrim, and you go off on a short side quest to just kill someone for somebody and then it's over. This was just a side quest movie, which is perfectly fine since it is meant to set up her role in the larger DCU. The problem with that, is that Gunn might not even be around long enough to see it through. I know fans don't necessarily speak for the studio, but the momentum since Superman last year has slowed and I hope the studio will be patient enough to let James Gunn "cook" as the kids say. But anyways probably a 6/10

As long as the folks involved with the movie (actor, director, writer) continue to use the opportunity solely to push their political opinions...the shit will continue to tank. That's not what 90% of the people that watch movies care about.

This movie is going to loses millions of dollars because of political bullshit.

Give me a fucking break.

Little Brother: 5.5/10. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but not very good either.

I bumped it up a point (6.75) because:

1) Comedies are hard to get right
2) It was a lightly marketed straight to Netflix product, I will always lower the bar/temper expectations for straight to streaming stuff that arrives without a lot of push behind it
3) Given the plot and cast it could have been a complete disaster... and it wasn't (certainty not an all time classic either)

No arguments with your score, just trying to better explain mine.

I miss you. Come back to us.

Finally got around to F4 First Steps, almost wished I hadn't. lol If there was ever unjustified hype around a movie, this is it.
6.5/10

Galactus, lame. The Thing, lame. SS, lame. The Mole man lol.

I kept getting distracted by the Human Torch.

Once I decided he looked like Robert Downey and Brad Pitt had a baby together, I couldn't get that thought out my head.

How are we going to defeat a Cosmic Intelligence,... We're going to DUPE him, lame!!

I'm currently playing Star Wars games, so I thought I would watch the three trilogies as well............

The Phantom Menace is unwatchable. Anakin and Jar Jar are two of the worst characters I've ever seen acted out in cinema.

I dunno if I'd go as far as unwatchable.. Duel of the Fates was pretty badass.

Agreed that Jar Jar was abysmal and there was way too much exposition ("midichlorians")... but it has some solid moments.

I'd say it was more flawed and overhyped than unwatchable, to each their own though and I'm not trying to say it's an all time classic or anything.

Disagree. There are some terrible parts, but the good parts outweigh the bad. The fight between Obi-Wan & Qui Gon and Darth Maul is the best in the whole series. There are other good aspects as well. And I would watch it over the newer ones. I'll never watch those again.

Fair arguments, but I would say the bad parts outweigh the good. Just about every scene where Jar Jar or Anakin were given dialogue had me wanting to delete my Disney+ account; however, the "Jedi" scenes were still solid.

That said, I'm still moving on to Attack of the Clones....😒
