This right here. Y make things difficult. Both are undefeated badasses. Let them fight. Winner gets title shot. That simple.
After Dos Santos gets done fighting lower competition, we can start talking bout him. Still a little confused how he went from fighting Werdum, to these guys

That's the way I see it. Both, Couture and Nog are legends in the sport and big names, UFC will want to milk them as long as possible and deservedly so.
After that, I think Dos Santos is next. I don't see how Velasquez/Carwin are above him. From a marketing standpoint, yes they'd be good challengers for Lesnar. But, neither has beaten a top 10 HW. Kongo wasn't a top 10 HW or close. Gonzaga wasn't a top 10 HW. At the time Dos Santos KOd Werdum, he was a slamdunk top 10 HW. So Dos Santos has the most impressive win and is also undefeated.
If Mir wins, I think Dos Santos becomes very marketable. If it's Lesnar, then we see Carwin. Of course, these are after what happens with Nog/Couture.

Cain and Shane should definetly have to fight each other next. I don't think either Nog or Couture should get a shot after that fight. Maybe the winner out of Nog and Couture takes on the winner of Cain and Shane and the winner of that fight gets a title shot. Nog should take a year off and reinvent himself. If Couture loses he should hang them up or cut to 205 and take a crack at Machida.

Couture and Nog are both former multiple time champions, big names, and legends in the sport. Neither, Velasquez or Carwin have even beaten one top 10 HW. Why would Couture/Nog have to fight one of them???

i dont any of these options deserve anything. carwin and cain(althought valesquez showed heart in his last fight) are both overratted imo. cain got rocked 3 times on the feet and if kongo had even a par ground game that fight would have been over in the first. (gnp over alturk does not cut it.) carwin has a ko over gonzaga, throwing a prayer of a right while he was on queer street and it happen to work out for him. but niether of them have even come close to being in a title discussion.imo

I think that would be way too long to have lesnar sitting and not fighting. ufc isn't going to let one of their most marketable fighters sit that long. I like the idea but he would need someone to fight while this is all going on haha.. it would be cool if fedor randomly decided to join and fight brock but we can only dream haha.

Because they are relevant right now. Either stop them or give them a crack at the top. Where were Gonzaga and Kongo ranked? (before fighting them) I don't really care if that happens but I think Cain and Shane should have to fight each other to see who moves on.

I dont want to predict who wins mir or lesnar. but lets just say lesnar wins (he's the favorite). I see couture beating nog decivisely.then i see couture-lesnar 2. in the meantime dos santos ko's mccully and dos santos gets the winner of carwin/cain (i think this fight will happen). then the winner dos santos/carwin or cain will face the winner of lesnar/couture. by this time whoever comes out of the carwin-cain-dos santos fights will be considered the #1 contender.
i think couture has to fight ASAP after the nog fight given his age. someone said above that if couture loses to nog he should cut to 205 and face machida. does anyone else see this happening? i think couture could come up with a game plan to make it difficult for machida. i know he would take him down which hasnt really happened yet. i dont know if he would win or not though

I'd say that out of the two of them, Carwin is the most experienced. That being said, I feel that he needs more experience before a title shot, however, look at what happened with Lesnar. I think that both Carwin and Velasquez are potential threats to the crown, but so is almost every HW because the division is pretty thin.

The HW division is getting more and more stacked, and its probably the best it has ever been.
Figure, here are just a few fighters that could be getting title shots at some point:
Mir - Has his now
Nog
Gabe Gonzaga
Shawn Carwin
Cain Valezquez
Chieck Kongo - if he starts getting a few big wins
Randy Couture
Dos Santos
There is also a whole season of TUF competitors that could eventually earn shots (figure, a couple years down the road)
There could be other fighters late on down the road, but figure, a solid 8 for now provides some interesting match ups.
