And when the armed guard gets killed millions of dollars have been wasted. Instead of armed guards in every school, how about some research funding to look into those who are mentally ill. They are the problem... not the guns, not the police.. its the mentally ill.

Yeah, that is basically my opinion. State spending on mental institutions has been cut dramatically in the past 20 years. I remember a large facility in Michigan getting closed when I was in high school in the mid 90's, and a large one in Illinois getting closed in the early 00's when I was in college. Instead of treatment, it seems that we just dope up people nowadays. They stop taking the drugs and it spirals out of control. I'd guess that many people that would normally have went to a mental institution in the 50's-80's now just get put on drugs, or get nothing. Bad stuff happens.
I voted no because I had an armed dean at my middle school because of some gang issues. I'd guess if a kid came in with a couple AR's and body armor, and chaos breaks out, the armed dean wouldn't have been basically useless. Because of his gun, the school wouldn't allow him to physically break up fights, he'd basically yell at them and then ring up others on his walkie talkie. He was a waste. I'd guess he made 25-30K.
I went to a rural high school that had a cop come in for about an hour a couple times a week, he'd walk the halls, say hi to teachers and students and take off. It was always on random days. He was much more official, and I'd trust him way more than the armed dean, who would probably duck and cover if crap went down.
In regards to gun control, I don't think you need a 30+ round clip to hunt or defend yourself.
