holster?I didn't know about Dolly Parton's book program for kids until my daughter was born. It's a great program that she funded where they send any child one book per month until they turn 5, all for free. That's a great thing that she did.

Representatives of country music legend Dolly Parton, who died last night at age 80, said she died after a 'brief battle with cancer.' According to them, Parton died at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville surrounded by her family members. The type of cancer she suffered from was not disclosed.

Dolly and Keanu Reeves are locked in on my Mount Rushmore of greatest PR teams ever.
I'm sure that being decent/good human beings has a lot to do with it, but... there are lots of decent people who have achieved a level of fame/success/wealth. Most of them, you can openly talk shit about and people will be like, "huh... well, not sure what they did to you, but okay..."
With Dolly, if you said anything other than that she was a living saint... you'd get absolutely excoriated.
Put it this way... if Dolly announces she's going to put millions of dollars into funding a program where kids get books, she's a national hero (rightfully so). If Jeff Bezos announces he's going to launch the same program, everyone says he's Satan and this is some elaborate tax write-off and that he's pure evil (eh, maybe he is).
Any who, it's amazing that she made it to 80 and seemingly never a bad thing was said about her. She will be missed and RIP.

Not everybody gets to be undeniably likable. Dolly had that about her. Combine that with the fact that despite being in the era of iconic celebrity for 40+ years.
It's hard to find anything derogatory about her.
Maybe she was just genuinely a good decent person.
