Also, it's equal parts ridiculous and hilarious that Spencer Pratt of all people is a legitimate candidate for Mayor of anything.. let alone one of the largest cities in the world.

The slogan is basically, "I might be a complete idiot... but at least I'm not Karen Bass or Nithya Raman!"

(and he's right)

The crazy part is that Pratt legit lost his house to a wildfire that was, in part, caused by ineptitude by city officials who have for decades repeatedly bypassed sensible forestry maintenance in the name of 'environmentalism'.

Even if you take the devil's advocate stance of, "wildfires aren't 100% preventable and it's possible that even with hypercompetent leadership that Pratt's house would have burnt down"... the city of LA is making it next to impossible for any re-building to be done.

Carolla (who has a construction background) actually has been putting out interesting vlog's about it in real time, and having conversations with the engineers.. many of whom agree that the building codes and permitting process are nonsensical. There's one home that actually is being rebuilt (a rarity), the city is demanding 10,000 yards of concrete to build massive caissons underneath the structure. It's absolutely insane.

Bass and the city of LA have turned a manageable problem into a dystopian nightmare. The idea that if they are re-elected that someone, who lost their home partially due to their policies, will leave is considered selfish or 'hateful' is laughable.
I been through these firestorm events twice in the past 10 years, they're fucking heartbreaking. The roadmap of to how to rebuild is in Santa Rosa CA, 50 mile north of me.

If LA gave a single fuck about what to do and when to do it they would have consulted with Santa Rosa, they did it right. We lost 8,000 houses also. I had permits for brand new homes within 2 weeks of submitting the OLD plans, almost all of which were available on microfiche at the building dept. Yes, updated drawings and engineering were needed but they let us get moving while those were developed.

When people lose everything the bureaucracy needs to loosen up their requirements, stand out of the way, and actually help people rebuild their lives.

I honestly feel like Los Angeles doesn't want those homes rebuilt. I say that bc there they are putting up new rolls of red tape everywhere.

Santa Rosa went out of their way to remove the red tape, lower the permit costs to JUST COST, and rebuild in the fastest and most efficient manner. I started building my first burn-down up there about 3 weeks after the fire.

government? in the way?????? shockers. No it cannot be.

A few years back, remember when that major freeway bridge burned down ( from some "homeless" fire)? and they were talking years and years to rebuild it (like we all experience) and someone came in and said "nah, we can do it in 2 weeks) and they came in, no bullshit, no reviews, no endless government meddling and tore the old one down and had the new one up in a few weeks.

out my way?

if so that was the bay bridge connector ramp about 14 years ago. ya the owner of that company said I can get it done in a month if you (CALTRANS and DOT) stay out of my way. They laughed him off and stood out of his way. He sent a contract over that paid him a shitload of money for every day faster he got it done. They laughed and signed it. Then they finished it like a week early, made a fuckload of money, and laughed all the way to the bank.

The craftsmen aren't the problem. It's the needledicks in suits that need to justify their paycheck that are the problem.

At this point? It's either evil or dumb. There aren't a lot of other options.

1) They are legit evil and are going out of their way to actively prevent rebuilds in order to crash land values. This will allow the connected to buy it all up on the cheap.... where they will eventually rebuild for a fraction of the cost.

2) They are greedy dummies who are approaching this the same way they approach everything. They collect as much money as possible, then create a bunch of NGO's (full of donors/supporters/backers/former government officials) and kickback a bunch of the money to them to ensure their continued support while things move at a snails pace.

So, in your estimation they're either... Intentionally evil, or evil-by-sheer-stupidity.

You know what, give me the TV star self admitted dumbass. I see why he's appealing

It worked for Trump. Twice.

Trump critic Thomas Massie loses costly GOP primary

Serves him right for trying to have the Epstein files released, supporting the Second Amendment and opposing Presidents declaring war on other sovereign nations without Congressional approval

All things the GOP is very firmly in opposition of!

I want to see evidence for his failure. So sorry @PrinceVegeta for not liking every such post yet just because I hate him, what if he does good stuff for his city? These memes doesn't prove he doesn't

And you know I want him to fail lol but too soon to know right
Uhh... stupid never works.

You can cherry pick some stance from every politician. Also, his war position is pure bullshit (see below). Iran was on the verge of enriching enough uranium for 9-11 nuclear warheads. They are the most prolific exporter of terrorism in the world and had to be dealt with. Emergency averted. It's easy to downplay the risk after it was prevented.

Bottom line is Massie is a pussy.

The 2001 AUMF (Still Active)
Passed immediately after the September 11 terrorist attacks, this statute gives the president authority to use force against those responsible for 9/11 and their "associated forces".
  • Scope: It has no expiration date, no geographic boundaries, and does not name specific countries.
  • Usage: For over two decades, multiple administrations have relied heavily on this single law to justify counterterrorism actions, airstrikes, and troop deployments across dozens of nations.

9-11 nuclear warheads? Lol

Well thank God AIPAC will never have to register as a foreign agent, crisis averted!

I'm pretty sure my donation to Gallrein's campaign made all the difference.

Was it is refusal to debate that really moved the needle for you?

Well then go ahead and support the other camp that want to put them in a "castration center"

Well, as the first evidence of his failure he was completely unable to put together a balanced budget for the very city he runs. He needed a $4 billion handout from the state to square that circle, so, yeah, there's one pretty massive failure right there. Especially considering he said he wouldn't need any of that.

So already non-NYC residents are having to pay for his dumbfuckery in NYC. All while nothing is changing or quantitatively improving for the residents of NYC. More money, same results = failure.

Yeah, no.

We've heard the "{x dictator/regime} is about to have nuclear weapons and we CANNOT let that happen!" schtick repeatedly over the past twenty years. And it has produced zero concrete evidence of these places being anywhere near having nuclear capabilities.

As for being "the most prolific exporter of terrorism", yeah they've also been that for the past 40 some years. Nothing changed there. In fact, in recent years, there's a great argument that their force projection/proxy capabilities have been greatly diminished.

And what's funny about that lil AUMF you cited is the wording "responsible for 9/11 and their associated forces." Small problem with that: al-Qaeda is Sunni. Iran is Shiite. Any alliance they had was strictly practical and pragmatic, and our own 9/11 Commission states Iran had no advance knowledge of the attack. Really difficult to apportion them responsibility when we let Saudi Arabia completely slide for their involvement this whole time.

All that makes it a pretty big stretch to use that provision, 25 years after the fact, on a country that was only involved in the periphery, at best. Almost like, idk, it's being bandied about as a shit justification for a war that simply didn't need to happen now.

Want to prove me wrong? Show me the smoking nuke. Quit telling me about em and show me. Should be pretty damn simple to do and shut everyone up if they were as close as claimed.
