Yeah, no.

We've heard the "{x dictator/regime} is about to have nuclear weapons and we CANNOT let that happen!" schtick repeatedly over the past twenty years. And it has produced zero concrete evidence of these places being anywhere near having nuclear capabilities.

As for being "the most prolific exporter of terrorism", yeah they've also been that for the past 40 some years. Nothing changed there. In fact, in recent years, there's a great argument that their force projection/proxy capabilities have been greatly diminished.

And what's funny about that lil AUMF you cited is the wording "responsible for 9/11 and their associated forces." Small problem with that: al-Qaeda is Sunni. Iran is Shiite. Any alliance they had was strictly practical and pragmatic, and our own 9/11 Commission states Iran had no advance knowledge of the attack. Really difficult to apportion them responsibility when we let Saudi Arabia completely slide for their involvement this whole time.

All that makes it a pretty big stretch to use that provision, 25 years after the fact, on a country that was only involved in the periphery, at best. Almost like, idk, it's being bandied about as a shit justification for a war that simply didn't need to happen now.

Want to prove me wrong? Show me the smoking nuke. Quit telling me about em and show me. Should be pretty damn simple to do and shut everyone up if they were as close as claimed.

Yes and...

Remember, we 'obliterated' their nuclear program back in late June of 2025. Direct from the White House

Then it wasn't 'obliterated' but trust us, they were set back AT LEAST 5 years, probably more.

The response to that post 2026 attacks is typically, "come on man, you believed Trump when he said obliterated? He was just talking shit like he always does. You can't trust that guy to tell the truth with something like Iran."

To that I would say, "okay, yet you believe Trump now? Why don't you assume that he's just talking shit about Iran's capabilities?"

Sigh...

The time to strike Iran was back in 2011 when you had a Federal judge rule that Iran had directly played a role in 9/11 and were actively continuing to further Al-Qa'ida.

Obama went the sanctions route though.

And whatever, we're here and this is all happening. I get it, I'm not trying to be douchey Monday Morning QB. It's just frustrating when 'everyone' (not you Crete) who back from 09-14 were 'liking all of' Trumps "Only an idiotic moron would start another forever war in the Middle East" are now saying "forever war with the Middle East is awesome!"

So no one thinks I'm a COMPLETE idiot (I'm only kind of an idiot), I'm not trying to sit here and say that Massie getting primaried is the end of the world or it's going to be some monumental turning point in history.

Maybe it riles up a few people in November, but at the end of the day he was 1 of 435 US Representatives. I personally respected him/found him entertaining, but he 100% got ahead of his skies and poked the bear/pissed off MAGA too many times. I'm sure he realizes that he brought this upon himself.

Gallrein should be fine? I don't know anything about him other than that he has pledged to vote along party lines and support Trump, which is fine... most GOP members of Congress do that.

It's weird to me that $30+ million got poured into a primary... but, I'm in no way suggesting that this is ushering in the apocalypse or anything. it's really just more of the same that has been happening ever since Citizens United.

I'd classify it as 'mildly disappointing' on the OSU rage-o-meter... and I'm really commenting on it because I comment on everything because I can't help myself.

Has anyone said you're wrong? That's the game on both sides

Constantly.

Half of my friends out here say that Massie was a RINO/traitor and 'never introduced a single bill or did anything;.

The other half either seem to think that this is the beginning of some kind of revolution in America, the GOP is going to split, and a third party will be formed.

I'm feel like I'm constantly trying to talk both of them down. Or, shift the topic with a few of them because they are cool people... except when it comes to politics, then they are insufferable.

Massie wasn't a RINO... he introduced tons of bills (most of them got stuck on committee/went nowhere), this isn't the start of the apocalypse... it's business as usual and yes it's disappointing to me because I don't like the direction things have been headed in since '08 (bailouts followed by QE followed by Citizens United followed by a laundry list of other really bad shit that both parties have jammed thru)... but, it is what it is.

It's actually a really interesting question:

Which coalition splinters first?
Conservatives (real ones) and MAGA? Or liberals (real ones) and progressives?

Cuz there are deep cracks in both sides that have been showing increasing signs of fracturing and splintering.

I can't imagine seeing my friends which happens maybe 3 times a year to talk about politics ;)

We get together to BBQ or celebrate one of our kids birthdays or milestones and it's always great until drink 3-5, then someone has to open the political can of worms

That, or it's the group texts. That seems to always start with a meme

Maybe I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time), but...

I think there is too much money for either party to truly collapse/splinter in a meaningful way.

You'll still see the occasional Paul, Golden, Massie, Murkowski, maybe Fetterman here and there... but GOP and DNC will maintain strangleholds just based solely on the amount of money being poured in from billionaires and special interests.

As far as who leads the next push? That's up to the chosen (billionaires and the folks behind the PACs/SuperPACs that kingmake behind the scenes)

It's super interesting. Which one will out-crazy the other one? One side has a leader (MAGA and Trump) who is term-limited for a few more years. Is there anyone with rallying capabilities to keep that movement going? The other side has no real leader other than Walmart Obama (Hakeem) yet has enough patchwork to keep their movement going.

When you realize that many of the most influential candidates on both sides of the aisle are taking money from the same groups, you realize that the 'crazy' is by design.

Pay no attention to the fact that Biden admin passed the CHIPS and Science Act in 2022 to give massive subsidies to the tech companies and then Trump passed the Big Beautiful Bill in 2025 to give... more massive subsides to to big tech.

Pay no attention to the fact that regardless of who takes office, healthcare remains completely broken. Obama gave it a try, but by the time Obamacare passed it had been turned from reform into a ticking timebomb.

Pay no attention to the fact that regardless of who wins, the military industrial complex and all of their contractors will see their coffers full.

Do pay attention to abortion access, transexuals and the nebulous 'climate change', those are the things that really matter!

It's a war and no one can agree on anything... yet, the same groups magically keep getting taken care of administration after administration.

well shit.

now idk what to pay attention to.

Buckey we need outside the box solutions to all of these nuances, not directives on what to pay attention to.

So let's just go in alphabetical order and start with abortion (A). The abortion pill is a hot topic rn. The left wants it sold at 7/11, the right wants it destroyed. You'd think that there's no middle ground here.

But there is, and that's why you called me into this debate. I'll tell you how to appease both sides:

The Interracial Birth Pill (IBP). Let's say a chick had a few too many and hooked up with a dude that's darker than the type she would normally hook up with. The next morning she stops by the gas station and gets the appropriate pill based upon the ethnicity of the partner she was with.

Oh - she doesn't know the exact ethnicity, you say? Don't worry, there's a solution to that but it costs a little more: the multi-tone IBP. This covers anything from white-sand Arabs to midnight black Africans, for only 50% more than the specific IBP.

Thoughts?

My outside the box solution is to arm up and get ready for the inevitable war against the AI/robot army.

meh just keep @bconcrete close, he's got that one under control. Cheat codes and stuff the average guy doesn't know about. He can take annoying bots, reprogram them, and add them to his army.

What happens if he defects to wanting boys playing in girls sports you ask?

idk, we're not there yet. We'll visit that when he starts buying more speedos

Well then go ahead and support the other camp that want to put them in a "castration center"

On the plus side, this officially closes the book on the "are elections in America bought and sold by special interests/PAC's run by mysterious (likely billionaire) donors?" argument.

Uniparty is alive and well and the message is loud and clear that they can buy any seat they want.
