Talking about Hokit, Ganes a bad matchup for a lot of good strikers. Hokit will not pose the same problems as what Gane offers. Hokits a good wrestler with serviceable striking and good conditioning, but he’s undersized for HW and is wide open to get hit, he proved that against Blaydes who isn’t a good striker. Pavlovich is a good striker, Alex and Volkov too and they can defend takedown attempts. Acosta might be another stylistic problem for Hokit at HW.
josh has amazing speed, speed trumps power. but...can he take that power? can he handle being hit by Wreck-It-Ralph?

In recent fights. Certainly not from 4 years ago 🙄 I would put Ank as having very strong wrestling, he’s taken every LHW down he’s ever fought. Guess what? 12 attempts against Alex in their first fight, zero completions. Ank had to strike and beat him in striking. If they fought 4 year ago it would’ve been the same with Ank taking down yet another LHW. Second fight he got murked. Alex has evened out his tdd, that’s why his tdd success rates in the 80s. Sure he hasent fought anyone of Hokits level of wrestling but my money is on Alex fucking him up.
I made note of that already. Ank didn't need to complete h8s tds and waste his ebergy like that

It was a guy I don’t swing that way bro like you do each to they own but not for me

That’s how he normally fights though. His well roundedness is where his success usually comes from and normally blends his striking/wrestling together well. I’m sure he would’ve preferred to complete some takedowns on Alex, but when he didn’t and was forced to strike with him for 25 minutes, I doubt that’s what he wanted, but he was lucky that Alex had problems and had an off night cuz he basically got murdered in the rematch.

You say forced to strike, I saw comfortably winning through striking and managing his gas tank professionally... and thats genuinely the only time in his career that Alex showed TDD, biting on Fugazi attempts and getting slowed down and put off rhythm. And Im saying all that as an Alex fan and vocally anti Ank

He did that. He fought long, smart, disciplined, well, he had too against someone like Alex. Not sure which part of of his arsenal is strongest, but Anks might be his wrestling and his constant willingness to use it, to mix it up. When you can’t get the chance to mix things up like he clearly couldn’t, he had to rely on his striking against the most dangerous LHW ever. I’m sure he would’ve had the same mentality going into the rematch.

I noticed something was off with Pereira in the first fight. He didn’t look comfortable or confident and when it was revealed later that he had a fractured shin bone, broken hand and norovirus it made complete sense. I take nothing away from Anks performance though, he didn’t great, but Alex put that right in the rematch.
