haha nice...Pretty much only GSP uses wrestling and I dunno how much of a wrestling base he started out with. I think he developed his wrestling to a high level over years. But the fact is guys like Silva, Fedor, Penn, Shogun, Aldo all dont have a wrestling base

Machida.
Im confused. Are you saying I forgot about Machida or that Machida has wrestling base? Cuz he def has a Karate base. If you ment I forgot about him I kinda did but I also didnt mention some other guys that could be on the P4P list
here's the problem. The gracie name has become legendary in MMA, and rightfully so. But with that name comes an unjust amount of pressure on the figthers that carry it. Royce and Renzo were both past there prime when they fought Hughes and the next generation of gracie fighters are already considered top prospects simply because of their last name.
It would be like automatically assuming that any basketball player that is related to Michael Jordan is going to be an NBA all-star. "this guys uncle is Royce Gracie, hes destined for greatness" it to much pressure to put on someone

IMO, it just proved that wrestling > BJJ.

hmmm.. funny pic, why in the hell was AS torquing Chale's arm in the wrong way???? if he wanted to get the arm bar, he should've torqued the arm to the other side...

Holding onto the arm is what's keeping Chael in the triangle, notice he put his right foot across Andersons body, and attempted to lean back to break the hold, but Anderson had a good hold of his arm.
nop, chael was trying to break the triangle Roger style (leaning back as you said) but in order to do that, he should've place his foot over Andersons left arm, IF chael had his feet where it should've been, that arm trapped wouldnt've stopped him from breaking the triangle... thing is, the triangle was too deep, and got even deeper when he leaned sideways and broke his posture...

Machida has an extremely solid (sumo) wrestling base.
He took down guys like Tito, Rashad and even Shogun, and he stifles takedown attempts in turn.

Machida has trained in a few different things. Im sure training with the Nog brothers and Silva he has some good BJJ as well. But his base is mainly Karate I think

He did karate since he could walk but he was a sumo vice-champ before he started MMA, so he did come in with a solid base.

Like I said, he has done many different things throughout his career and prior but he still has Karate as a major base. Not a pure wrestler

Controversy creates interesting conversation. I've found this thread to be quite interesting and I've learned things from it I otherwise probably wouldn't have, had I not posted it.
Think of it as a form of... benevolent trolling
