Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck will first collide as coaches on the "Ultimate Fighter" season 12, and then the two will face off for the UFC welterweight championship on December 11 at UFC 123.
Koscheck announced the date of the fight via his Twitter account late Tuesday night.
"Can't wait until TUF 12 airs in September, and oh yeah did you guys know, that I am going to be the next welterweight champion come December 11th," Koscheck twittered.
The date for the fight makes sense because of the TUF 12 finale show currently rumored to take place on December 4 in Las Vegas, with St. Pierre and Koscheck squaring off in the main event of a pay-per-view show the following weekend.
The last piece of the puzzle for the December 11 show is the venue that it will take place at.
One city that seems marked off the map is Koscheck's hometown of Pittsburgh. The Edinboro graduate had lobbied for his hometown to get the title fight, but conflicting dates seem to have squashed that idea for now.
The new Consol Energy Center is set to open in Pittsburgh this fall, hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team, as well as other concerts and sporting events in the area.
On December 11, the Consol Energy Center is set to host a NCAA double header for the SEC vs. Big East basketball tournament, with Rutgers playing Auburn, and Pittsburgh taking on Tennessee. Both games are set to be nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN 2, which virtually eliminates the arena from hosting a UFC event the same day.
With Pittsburgh seemingly out of the running, the UFC may hold a second event in December in Las Vegas, but there's been no confirmation at this time on a venue. MMAWeekly will have more information on the event as it becomes available.

I think Koscheck is a genuine d---. Hardy is atleast kind in a way and isnt whole heartidly a d---. Therefor I think Koscheck will get his hand broken with no desitation by GSP.

I play World of Warcraft (i know i know, NERD ALERT, but hey f--- YOU IT'S FUN) and I have a character named Kosheck (looks just like him too). Anyway, at least 10 times a day I get whispers from random people saying "i hope he knocks GSP the f--- out". It's pretty hilarious. That being said, I hope GSP knocks Kos TFO.

When was the last time GSP fought...? Also, I hope Kos tries things different this fight. He should be trying to wrestling GSP down instead of standing there striking with him.

March 27th
GSP is 29 now and Kos will be 33 when this fight happens. GSP is a MUCH better fighter now then he was against Kos the first time. GSP will take down the older, not quite as athletic as he was before, Koscheck and submit him. He nearly locked in a kimura in the first fight and in this fight GSP will have much improved grappling. Koscheck simply won't be on the same level as GSP in any area. It could be closer than a lot of GSP's fights but I don't think Kos will have what it takes by any means.

Where have you seen evidence of this loss of athleticism for Koscheck?

It happens when you approach mid 30's. Kos will be 33 and the last time he fought GSP he was 29 and couldn't match GSP then. Meanwhile GSP is pretty much on the cusp of his prime and Kos is likely past his. Kos can still be effective but at this point he needs to rely on intelligence and technique because if he tries to match GSP speed for speed, athleticism for athleticism, and strength for strength he'll get beat bad. GSP will take him down like he did last time, stuff his shots like he did last time, and dominate him like he did last time. Kos got one TD in the first round and held GSP in place for a good minute but he won't be able to do that again. GSP is just too good and we'll see the 3 years of improvement. Kos could be a 3 or 4 WW in the world but he's not on GSP's level plain and simple. The gap in talent between the two will be very apparent.

GSP will win another dominating (boring) decision. But everyone will defend him even after he admits to fighting safe.

What he said ^
Is there really any reason to get exited for this fight? Has Koscheck really improved THAT much, i don't see any reason to think so. Will be a carbon copy of their first fight..

Weird. I don't remember GSP ever being apart of a boring decision.
