This is the correct choice. They just need to give him the Mickey Rourke treatment from Sin City. Get the makeup person from that movie to turn him into Roland.

Disagree only in that Roland isn't meant to be psychotically evil. He isn't a bad guy, just obsessed and single minded. These are not the eyes we are looking for.Another very important part of the character is he has a cold dead gaze. A dangerous and unsettling look in his eyes. Something that when you look around at what some other actors have done.
In my opinion it was Bardem that best captured that in NCFOM.

I'm not arguing for the character Bardem played I'm stating that Roland's eyes are described as faded and unsettling locked in the proverbial thousand yard stare. A trained Killers eyes.Disagree only in that Roland isn't meant to be psychotically evil. He isn't a bad guy, just obsessed and single minded. These are not the eyes we are looking for.
He also is described as having light blue eyes, and these are mentioned frequently. I think we need someone a bit more Aryan.I'm not arguing for the character Bardem played I'm stating that Roland's eyes are described as faded and unsettling locked in the proverbial thousand yard stare. Hey! Spoilers..
The younger Roland (wizard and glass) had bluer eyes. While older Roland has faded light blue eyes.

He definitely has light blue eyes as an older man and dark blue eyes as a younger character. He also is described as having light blue eyes, and these are mentioned frequently. I think we need someone a bit more Aryan.

(Wizard & Glass) But he's has deep rooted Spanish literary tropes as well. In the mold of Don Quixote.

My bad. It's just hard to talk about his overall character concerning casting. Without stepping into some of those areas. You're on one of the best books of the series right now in my opinion. Also if you enjoyed the gunslinger you should readOk, again, I haven't gotten to that book. Please don't discuss anything from future books

Seems like the movies wouldn't be the same without Keanu, but who else to play Neo?
I can only suggest Christian Bale, considering he was excellent in a kinda...barely similar role before.
Brandons acting chops were similar to Reeves circa 1993. Like you said hard to picture anyone other than Keanu but Brandon probably could have pulled it off.Seems like the movies wouldn't be the same without Keanu, but who else to play Neo?
