I'm not tryin to start a heated debate about religion! Im just attempting to create somthing positive where we can post our favorite bible verses and discuss how we apply them to everyday life. I am not a biblical scholar, infact i did'nt start looking into this road map on how to live until recently. I grew up with religion being thrown in my face at an early age and i rebelled and spent most of my life being a bad influence on everyone around me. I have since realized that theres just some things you cant ignore. Anyway, they say that since Jesus came and saved all our souls we are not supposed to live by the old testament. I guess cuz things were hardcore way back in the day, but i like the verses about war and god having your back in battle so here i go!
“It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on high places. He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze … I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them; neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed. I have wounded them, so that they were not able to rise; they have fallen under my feet. For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.” (Psalm 18:32,37)
“For You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord shall enlighten my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop; by my God I can leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” (2 Samuel 22:29)
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from me,” says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17)
“Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle – my lovingkindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.” (Psalm 144:1)

I think this is a good idea. Hopefully it stays positive.
As for the Old Testament and New Testament thing. Think of it like this. The Old Testament is an old contract that says you can be saved only if you follow the law laid out in the Old Testament books. The New Testament is a new contract that says, you can be saved through belief in Jesus Christ, his death and resurrection. So the wisdom within the Old Testament still applies but the way to salvation that is no longer found in following every law and ordinance.
Someone explained it to me that way once and it was a lot less confusing.

I think Aldo has brought a great idea to the table. And being that he hasn't done anything negative to any of you, I don't think it's nice to troll his thread.
That being said, this is one that I shared with friends the other day:
Proverbs 17:17 - A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

But if God is perfect and never changes, why do you need a new Contract ie: The New Testament.
Riddle me this...
God made Adam. He then made Eve as company for him. They had two children, Kane and Able...Kane killed Able because he was pissed about some sacrifice. So God cast Kane off to the "forsaken" land, where he met his wife.
Where the hell did she come from?

I stay out of everything religious for my own reason, but it would be nice if people were gonna post a religious quote or bible verse or whatever just stay out of the thread. I never speak up like this I usually just ignore all that stuff but I know theres some religious people on here so we non religious folk should just leave this thread alone. Just sayin

Hope yout not talking about me trolling EZ? I'm not trolling. I honestly would like to hear the answer. I have a few questions like this that just don't make sense to me.
My kids go to a Private Christian School...so I aint trolling nothing. My Wife goes to Church every Sunday. Not my thing so I don't go. But I do have a relationship with God.
My thing is no Religion, just a relationship.

Just a few people getting their hair stiff about people supposedly trolling this thread because they were not contributing. I was not really contributing to the OP in my last post, but was not trolling. Just pointing that out before someone else might go off on me...lol. Nothing to do with you Scotty.

I don't think you are trolling but you are taking the the thread off topic. The OP clearly stated "I'm not tryin to start a heated debate about religion! Im just attempting to create somthing positive where we can post our
favorite bible verses and discuss how we apply them to everyday life.
"
I'm sure there are a dozen other religion threads you could search for and post the question in.

Nah. I don't really use the term trolling and I wasn't really talking to anyone in particular. Just stating that this threw shouldn't get out of hand. I know Aldo is newer and like h said he wasn't looking for a heated debate. Just throwing my 2 cents in hoping this thread doesn't get out of hand like so many others have been lately ya know
