Triple M Junkie Idol Game thread

Although I loved my choice, an entry that had a good chance of not being known to the judges. I always thought a good rock song with fast, hard drum beats would be my choice for best walkout song, but it would’ve been virtually impossible to pick a one that CM, Brick or even Goodcat wouldn’t have heard of(unless Webbles a secret heavy rock fan/metal head?) I would’ve had a good Metallica, Slayer, Marilyn Manson, MegaDeth, Ramstein or Pantera song and there’s so many cool ones to chose from.
yeah the sucky thing about picking a super popular song is that it would have to be absolutely perfect just to get a 5. I'd much rather post something decent but obscure and bet that I could get a 6 or 7 out of it.

(And I technically won it with the high score. Not that @thedarkwingduck2k11 gave me credit for doing so. So much for white privilege)

Sixto Rodriguez - Sugar Man
webble:
I haven't heard it I really like it as a song, fantastic track not sure if it works as a walk out song would have to try it to find out 8/10
cmvideo75:
I like it. Different vibe for the walkout but this could get me into the right frame of mind. I've seen some fighters walk out to more mellow stuff and it can work. 8/10
Brick:
Absolutely nothing about this says walk-out pump-up music. Very slow paced, with a bit of a bummer vibe. Trying to make sense of why someone would have submitted this, but I’m coming up blank. I actually went back and re-read the submission guidelines to see if I was missing something. Nope. 2/10.
GoodCat:
So, just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I went and read the description of the category and is definitely says " This includes finding a walkout song that gets them pumped and hyped up going into fight". Does this kind of song actually get you hyped up and ready to fight? An acoustic song about doing cocaine and smoking weed? Sorry, but this is another one that completely misses the mark for me.
2/10

Let Me Drown - CODEPENDENCY
webble:
not heard it, its not for me but I could see someone walking out to it 5/10
cmvideo75:
Oh boy, I hate this lol. This style of metal kills me... there are soooo many 2000's band that play this dreck. The terrible synths with all of the big bass drops, the girl whining, the guy doing screamo shit. Ooof. This is one style of metal I can not get into. 3/10
Brick:
This is more like it. Not a great song per se, but definitely fills the bill for this competition far better than some of the other total downer entries. At least this one is upbeat. 7.5/10.
GoodCat:
Alright, finally a song that would actually get me hyped. And I'm not just saying it because I like metalcore. This one starts off with a bang, and any song that you get a "bleh!" within the first 10 seconds is good with me lol. And while I've heard of the band, I've never heard this song. Another suggestion for you if you are into metalcore with a female singer, check out the band Gore. 8.5/10

Dink–Green Mind
webble:
not heard it feels kinda beastie boys I wouldn't walk out to it cuz Im not American but I like the track 5/10
cmvideo75:
Not bad. It's got a good live feeling to it and has the right vibe. I'd go for something a little heavier myself, but I wouldn't be embarrassed to walk out to this. 7/10
Brick:
I remember this band from college-era, I wasn’t sure about the song from the name, but as I started listening I can definitely remember my roommates playing this song because I didn’t really like it but they loved it, so unfortunately this is going to mean a -5 deduction. But I could see this as a walkout song; not really my style, but it fits. 7/10, but with the deduction you are going down to 2/10.
GoodCat:
For some reason, I just picture Sam Alvey walking out to this song with that big grin on his face the whole time haha. Pretty good choice, not the best but far from the worst. 6/10

DIFANG - ELDERS DRINKING SONG
webble:
not heard it its weird and lacks words 2/10
cmvideo75:
Shit.... I was into this idea for the first 10 seconds. If the song was just the chanting from the elders, this could be a real vibe walking out to. But then that awful beat kicks in and this turns into an Imagine Dragons song. No thank you. 2/10
Brick:
Hmmm. Was prepared to torch it, but it kind of started to grow on me as it went. So, doesn’t really get me pumped up and ready to fight, but I didn’t totally hate it either. 5/10.
GoodCat:
So was Sail Away by Enya already taken or something? I'm just kind of baffled by how many of these songs are literally the complete opposite of what the category states. I mean, I know some of this is subjective but this is Gregorian chant set to music. This would be the hold music for a bank without the vocals in it, not a song to get a fighter hyped up to go out and engage in hand to hand combat. 2/10

10. @Rickyc123
Hard Rock Hallelujah - Lordi
webble:
I'm so sorry this is the one song I have heard so minus 5 for that I'd give it 7/10 - 5 = 2/10
cmvideo75:
I'm in!! It's like the Finnish GWAR. Nothing like some good metal cheese to walk out to. 8/10
Brick:
I’ve never heard of this Gwar rip-off. I can see why. Not a great song. Could serve as a descent walk-out song, though. 6.5/10.
GoodCat:
Gwar called and said expect to hear from their lawyers very soon. Beyond that though, this was a pretty fun song. I could definitely see someone like Filthy Tom Lawler walking out to a song like this. And if I didn't know this was Eurovision and that it was a real thing, I would probably think this was AI generated. But good pick overall. 7/10

Thank you for your answers. You’ve taken the bait. “Rodriguez”, as he was known, was a Detroit based folk singer who had made two albums that were complete flops in the U.S. However, by circumstances still unknown to this day, his album “Cold Fact” (the album that contains the submission) made it to South Africa and became the anthem of the Anti-Apartheid movement. His music led to widespread social upheaval and was subsequently banned by the government - making him all the more mysterious. However, bootlegged copies continued to be circulated for the next twenty years unbeknownst to Rodriguez, whom was rumored to have died by lighting himself on fire on stage. The documentary “Searching for Sugar Man” covers two South Africans trying to find out the story of Rodriguez. It turns out he was just working construction in Detroit and had absolutely no idea.

So, a song that gets you hyped for a fight? People were throwing Molotov cocktails to this jam. Song you haven’t heard? Even Rodriguez didn’t even know people were listening to it. Why it was submitted? A mellow jam with a dark, violent history is terrifying.

@TheIronSheik you're here!!!

I was just telling everyone the story of Margaret and the Missing Avocados from back in the day. You've been so buttoned up and nice here, gotta build your street cred. God can't believe it's been so long since then.
Fuck. I’ve actually tried to blot that out of my memory. A one armed woman stealing your produce leaves a weird, lingering memory that deserves to be repressed. Luckily for me she could only carry so much.

I'm too lazy to go and research every pick that gets submitted. I know it said no write ups were needed, but you probably could have explained it a bit. I probably still would have given it like a 4 or 5 at most though. The lyrics for me are only supplemental to the music. I'm looking for the music to hype me up.

So let me get this "straight"
A song that builds up perfectly is not good enough, because you need a naked man to scream at you, to go hug another man?
Thats not hyping up, thats foreplay!

If you are not ready to conquer the whole world, after that song, the music is not the problem!

Are the judges those kind of people, that watch Interstellar and complain about the soundtrack afterwards?

@Eranys this game is impossible!

I hate to tell you this but you might be doing foreplay wrong
