Paul is what he should be at this stage. An amateur boxer getting pro bouts and pro money. Do I think it was a "dive"? I want to say yes but I think it wasn't based upon the clips I saw and what I am reading. Woodley is a shot fighter. At this point when you pay for a Woodley fight you should know what to expect.

He really picked a great opponent for his first 'legit' test. He didn't really need the MMA guy to sell this fight... him alone and this being his first real challenge was probably enough to sell it. And Woodley's last bunch of fights (outside of the Luque fight) all looked like dives, so even if this was a set-up, would anyone ever know? lol That's just super hesitant TWood.
I agree with your previous point though that a rematch doesn't do anything for him. And he will need more help selling future fights.

I mean props to Woodley. He knows there is no better payday coming so why not try to do what McGregor and Diaz do when they lose? It worked for them. Not sure what the cost of living is in Missouri but Tyron's friends and family need to sit down and tell him his best days are behind him and he needs to retire. I mean there is a future. Look at Johny Hendricks. He retired from MMA and is now a full-time cop.

Ha... I had no idea Henricks was a cop now but boy that is fitting. Like a real Georgia/Texas southern style cop lol.
With Woodley it is an especially bad look because he spent his career not being that guy, so you can't just do a 180 now and be that guy. He should just be happy he got the bonus payday that he did and that he didn't completely embarrass himself like Paul's previous opponents. Move on. Although if he really did want to try boxing, this kind of ruined that for him so maybe that's why he's a bit pissy today.

Jake isn't bad but Woodley should be embarrassed. What is even more embarrassing is the judge who gave Woodley the fight. He won 3 rounds at best. Paul outboxed Woodley bigly.

Woodley should not be embarassed. Woodley needs to take a step back and realize he got played. Paul knows Woodley is not getting that tattoo and Woodley doesn't have a significant avenue to make money in the fight game in America without Paul. So Woodley will push and push for the rematch knowing nothing will happen.
If I am Paul I take one more fight and then wait for Diaz. I think Nate has one fight left on his contract and it works for both Paul and Diaz. Paul needs a person to market the fight with and Diaz can stop losing to most of the competition in the UFC.

I just don't think Woodley understands how to box, like the actual art of it and how to score and win. Should have watched more Mayweather matches. Diaz needs to stop now before he ends up eating from a straw.

I go one step further and accidently catch the highlights on IG because every MMA outlet inexplicably covers these low rent boxing matches over the actual UFC event that took place on the same night.
