The Ultimate Fighter reality series has produced three champions and a number of contenders since debuting on network television in 2005.
Forrest Griffin
and
Rashad Evans
went on to win UFC titles after making their way to the Octagon via the reality show. Matt Serra won his only UFC title after appearing on The Comeback season of the series, which featured a cast consisting of UFC veterans. Fighters such as Gray Maynard, Nate Diaz, Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian,
Josh Koscheck
, Manny Gamburyan and
John Dodson
have competed in UFC title fights.
But no other fighter coming off the reality show generated more anticipation and hype for his UFC debut than Season 17 finalist
Uriah Hall
.
Hall delivered one of the most jaw-dropping knockouts in
UFC
history during the season’s third episode, landing a spinning hook kick to the head of Adam Cella that rendered him unconscious.
Heading in to The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, Hall was a heavy favorite over finalist
Kelvin Gastelum
, but lost via split decision after a lackluster performance.
In his next outing, Hall lost another split decision to John Howard in a largely uneventful fight.
The Jamaican native and New Yorker now finds himself on the chopping block if he doesn’t win his next fight.
“I don’t ever think of matches as the loser leaves town unless you’re talking about Uriah Hall’s next fight,”
said UFC president
Dana White
in a recent scrum with reporters in Brazil.
“Uriah Hall needs to win a fight or Uriah Hall will be leaving town.”
Hall is expected to face Chris Leben at UFC 168 on Dec. 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and it sounds like he’ll be fighting to keep his job.
YIKES!!!!!

Completely warranted. In both fights he was in so far you had the sense he was the better fighter...but that hasn't translated into wins at all. Time to put up or shut up.

Not surprised by this. He'll land with Bellator and be a champion in no time.

He's one of those people who has the talent but not the heart.

Yeah, Alexander Schlemenko. I had to check...lol. But no one remotely dominant. It's Bellator afterall.

Sure feels that way. I for one though hope that isn't the case and he pulls off an impressive win. It's going to be a tough fight no doubt too. You can tell the UFC had had enough considering they threw Chris Leben at him lol.

Stuff that's this obvious isn't really news..
"The guy who lost TUF and is winless in the UFC faces release if he loses AGAIN"

It was more of the fashion that DW said it that was more news than the story itself. Which is why I posted it.

Seems reasonable. Giving high fives every minute in a fight that you're losing is bound to piss the top brass off. Hall won't get the same chances as let's say Chris Leben, cuz he's just not as popular as him. Chris has went over the limit of second chances though IMO, and if Hall wins and Leben doesent leave town then something is seriously up, especially considering all the cuts lately(and I like Chris).

I think Hall is lucky he hasn't been released already. If he goes 0-3 he will have tied Phillipe Nover as the biggest TUF disappointment ever. Maybe even bigger.

100% bigger disappointment. If Hall had those KOs in the UFC he'd be up for KO of the year.

Hall's mental state kind of reminds me of War Machine. Back when he had finished his stint on TUF, I always thought he had the talent, but he was such a wreck mentally it held him back.
Uriah keeps trying to catch the magic of that beautiful KO of Cella, instead of trying to get that W.

Not surprised, he would be 0-3 in the UFC and hasn't looked good in his fights, especially his last fight

Efrain beat Nover....Yikes! Although Effy trains with the boys at The LAB, so with a few more wins he'll probably be back in the UFC.

I'll never understand the thought process behind cutting guys like Uriah Hall. Name recognition is such an important factor in promoting fights. Hall has it, and now the UFC is about to cut him?
How about developing your big name prospects and give them some leeway? That's what they do in other sports.
