Urijah Faber to retire after UFC on FOX: Sacramento fight w/ Brad Pickett

Future fighters would do well to study Faber's career. He worked hard to build a fan base, both nationally and locally, and invested early on in a wide variety of businesses. Back in the WEC days, he was as strong a draw, in Sacramento, as all but the biggest UFC stars...and might not be far off from them. He and Torres were the stars of WEC and Faber, unlike Torres, never crashed and burned once entering the UFC.
Some previous posts have talked about top ten all-time FWs and BWs, Faber easily makes the list.

I have a buddy who was at a TUF finale card that Faber fought on. It was his first live event and a casual of sorts when it comes to MMA. He the biggest moment of the night was when Faber's walk-in music was cued (California Love?). Apparently the crowd just erupted.
Anyone fighting @145 or lower, should pay homage to Faber. He was the first smaller guy who made people take notice, and shined the light on some excellent talent with more coming down the pipeline. Been a good long career, and I'm glad I got to see him fight from the WEC till the present day. Good to see him fighting his last fight at his house. Hope he gets the win
