WAR

Shower thought...people that think talking heads from news shows actually believe what they say and aren't just engagement baiting and ratings baiting are the modern day version of people that thought pro wrestling was real.

Going back to Alex Jones... I don't have the transcripts of his deposition, but I believe he did something along the lines of, "I do believe some of what I say .. the problem is that I oftentimes have 15 minutes of actual news, and 90 minutes of air time to fill. I have to try to keep people listening somehow"

(Not defending Jones, but it makes more sense than him being a deranged lunatic who sincerely believes that frogs are being turned gay and all the other nonsense he's ranted about over the years)

"I need to take a shit today."

"I am not voting for Hilary Clinton."

"There is a pedophile vampire under your bed".

One of the above statements is not like the others.

I'm guessing that if you hooked Alex Jones up to a lie detector, he'd ding 'true' on believing that the Federal Reserve should be abolished and some form of a New World Order existing that is pulling the strings of both political parties.

I'm guessing (hoping) that he'd ding 'false' on sincerely believing that Obama had some kind of 'tornado machine' that he could press a button on and create natural disasters.. as well as 80+% of the absurd shit he would rant about on his shows to fill time.

(I'm not a good person to talk Jones with though as I honestly don't know most of his conspiracy theories because I never paid much attention to him. I only know that the 'tornado machine' was one because I had a former co-worker forward a clip to me and we both laughed at it. It wasn't interesting/entertaining enough for me to want to tune back into and see what he said next though)

I am not even sure he believes those things either. He might just be a libertarian with a few beliefs about how the world should work (or maybe even personally apolitical) but he discovered an entertainment niche catering to morons and he went to work milking said morons.

When your show revolves around yourself spazzing out and making weird faces, you are not a newscaster. You are a fetish pornstar that is keeping your clothes on.

Is that how he started out though?

I'm not an expert on anything Jones related... but my understanding (mostly from following the Sandy Hook trial because I found that interesting) was that he started out relatively small in Texas, talking to people like Ron Paul about auditing the Fed and governmental overreach while mixing in some 'New World Order' stuff as his gimmick/hook... and when he got fired from the local station because he wouldn't shut up about the Clintons he realized there was an untapped market in conspiracy nonsense and that's where 'Infowars' began.

Again, not trying to defend him at all and certainly not suggesting that he's 100% on the level (he's openly admitted he wasn't). Just relaying my (limited) understanding so that if I'm wrong someone can correct me.

Report: US preparing 3-day Iran strike, Trump has rejected 5 attack plans

The New York Times reported that the US military is preparing for a large-scale attack on Iran that would last about three days, focusing on missile and drone systems, energy facilities and Revolutionary Guards command centers. American officials told the newspaper that President Donald Trump has rejected five plans for military operations against Iran or the Houthis in recent months, and made clear he would not strike before the midterm elections in the US next month. Meanwhile, three American aircraft carriers are expected to deploy in the Middle East for the first time since 2003, alongside more than 20,000 troops and hundreds of aircraft.

Thank god we aren't telling them what to expect.

"They said he will start a war. I'm not going to start a war. I'm going to stop wars."🤔

There's really no point in voting anymore, and there is seemingly no way to hold any of these assholes accountable for blatant lies. Even if the GOP gets crushed in the midterms, Trump will still be in office and it'll accomplish nothing outside of resulting in 2 years of gridlock (which I'm sure will be appealing to some).

To be fair, it's not like that is a new revelation. Clinton promised he would stand up to China and within 90 days of stepping into office made them our most favored nation. When asked about it he essentially said, "yea I had to say that stuff so I'd get elected... no one thought I'd actually do it, right? Come on."

(not suggesting Clinton was the first, or, 'the DNC started it' or anything along those lines... only that I was born in the early 80s and Clinton the first one that did it in my lifetime when I had the capacity to understand what was happening)

No. But that's not exactly new.
Even if the GOP gets crushed in the midterms,
They are....going to get crushed.
Imo
Mid-Terms 'gon Mid-Term.
(nothing ta see here)

The amount of work done towards actually passing legislation has been plummeting for years. Their jobs have become more about blocking legislation than working towards it.
The 23-24 Session passed the fewest bills in history. And the current one may end up lower than that one.
It's all bs. From 60 Day Cloture to "Silent Filibusters"..It's all currently designed to NOT work.

Accountability?😂😭🤣

Agreed. No in fact, He actually ended up doing more to prop their economy up than any US President.... I'm not sure how far he could have taken it on the whole human rights Tiananmen square deal but he did 180 pretty quickly. 😡

On one hand, if we fully commit to putting boots on the ground and making a concerted effort to 'win' it's not going to make a difference if we tell them we're doing it or not... we'll annihilate them.

On the other hand, he's basically giving them carte blanche to sink tankers in the Strait between now and November... it's monumentally stupid to telegraph something like that.

So yes, he's a terrible wartime President

Trump is obsessed with using military power to intimidate rival nations. His brain keeps getting locked onto this strategy and he routinely fails to consider the psychology of his opponents and also recent history. The Iranians are not going to be intimidated by words. We have already rained down hellfire on their country and used almost all of military might short of a ground invasion or WMD. Threatening gestures are meaningless at this point. Trump badly needs to understand and take deep into his heart the phrase, "Speak softly, and carry a big stick."

This is going to get worse before it gets better 🙁

Yes, he doesn't seem to have caught onto the fact that Middle Eastern despots have a very different mentality than New York real estate moguls and bankers.

About 8 and a half years. I got there just in time to see what the city was like before it went through some bad changes. It was a very different city when I left in 2018.
It seems like many other places are going that route, even Texas
