I was honestly surprised by the first round. Kimbo had slams, he had better punching and he got out of triangles and chokes. The reality is that sure, any fighter can take the safe road and just hack him at the knees and make him quit that way, and that's what Mitrione and Roy Nelson did.
I think i'm more disappointed by those fighters than i am with him. At least Seth Petruzelli had the balls to fight Kimbos game and knocked him out.
And this from a person who couldn't care one way or the other about Slice.

I kinda agree, but it's part of the game. GSP gets praise for avoiding his opponent's strengths perfectly, yet you have to stand and bang (without leg kicks) if you fight Kimbo?
He did improve his game a lot, but KO power is pretty much his only advantage against anybody (and not everybody), so why would you even take the risk and not expose his weaknesses?
Props to him for attitude and effort though. I gained a lot of respect for him. I hated the hype generated by EliteXC but never hated him personally though. Who wouldn't jump on that opportunity?

Re: Kimbo Slice: I'm sorry I let y'all down
Ive always liked Kimbo. Hes a good guy. He could have slacked off when he started making the big money and just quit, but he wanted to prove something so he took a big pay cut by doing TUF and fighting in the UFC. I dont feel bad for him. He is just gonna go do his thing somewhere else.

Come on, why would Mitrione possibly just want to stand in front of Kimbo and swing wildly. We're in a UFC ppv here, not a drug dealers back yard.
Should the relatively inexperienced Mitrione have risked half of his wages, and potentially his UFC career, by doing something stupid? Its not even like he lay on him for 3 rounds. He won the first round, nearly submitting him a couple of times. He then finished him in the 2nd, what more do you want?
You can't even say Petruzelli "had the balls to fight Kimbos game". How do you possibly know what Petruzellis game was? He threw a shitty jab that knocked kimbo out in the opening exchange. That could easily have happened for Nelson or Mitrione too.
All in, your post is bizarre.

50% - jealousy
30% - lack of intelligence
20% - purely because they were on danas nutbag and he was hating, so they best do it too

Blame Sh%^dog. Kinda serious on that one actually. When Kimbo was only a back yard fighter the start on that site was immediate hate for the man from the fools on that site, far worse than the Brock hate was when he announced he was going into MMA and that was total hate.

Re: Kimbo Slice: I'm sorry I let y'all down
Alright, we all knew this was going to happen from the very beginning. Anyone who thought otherwise is foolish. I'm not a Kimbo fan by anymeans but I think the UFC should have given him another shot at 205. Kimbo is way too small for the heavyweights today but he's as powerful as a frieght train as we saw when he slammed Mitrione. I think if the UFC gave him 6 months, forced him down a weight class we would have been alot more successful. Not a contender by any means but him and Jardine could compete for gatekeeper status.

How does so much hate from Sh%^dog, carry over to MMA Junkie? I realize people use multiple MMA websites, I do too, but dang. I guess it probably doesn't make sense to me because MMA Junkie forums are the only forums I use. Anyway, thanks for the answers Junkies.

The internet hate for Kimbo will return once he starts fighting for Strikeforce or in Japan, most "fans" love brand names these days, not the fighters necessarily. Truth, accept it.

Shut up already. The anti-UFC fans are just as annoying as the "I hate everything non-Zuffa" group. And, at least on the forums, there are way more members of your obnoxious cult. I'm so sick of seeing everyone labeled as"UFC n-huggers".
People didn't like Kimbo because he was marketed as the best fighter in the world by Elite-XC. We didn't know anything about him except that he was a street fighter with a greasy beard. Then we got to see more of him on TUF and learned that he was a good guy so we began to like him. It wasn't the diabolical, doomsday device known as the "Zuffa Hype Machine". Jesus.

My dislike for Kimbo came from watching his youtube videos. Kimbo goes for a takedown, no problem. Kimbo gets the guy down, and tries some ground n pound, no problem. The other guy takes Kimbo down, a crowd jumps in to stand them back up. Kimbo gets caught in a choke, people jump in to break it up. Kimbo gets kneed, a crowd jumps in to break it up, screaming "no knees". They weren't fair fights, but Kimbo built his reputation off of them.
Since TUF, my opinion of Kimbo has changed, but I still remember what I saw on youtube.

I see, as an MMA Fan, I can understand the frustrations with situations such as those you mentioned. When the love or following of a specific fighter is held as more important than the sport as a whole.

You actually think what I said isn't true? Really?
Btw, it's kinda sad you need TUF to help you not pre-judge people.. Kimbo always presented himself as a humble guy and a student of MMA, it's a shame that you're only source of info is SpikeTV.

Re: Kimbo Slice: I'm sorry I let y'all down
Kimbo brought the right attitude to the table. He was willing to work hard, swallow his pride (which alot of brawlers need to do) and took a logical perspective to his fight game. He obviously respected the sport, his trainers and his opponents and you can't help but respect him for it.
He isnt the youngest fighter out there, and starting so late his potential isnt what it would have been 5 years earlier but it looks like if he sticks to what he's been doing he'll recieve interesting fights and continue to get better.
MMA needs more Kimbo's in that respect.

If nothing else, Kimbo will make a good training partner/team member/corner man in the future.

Uhh? :?
He has no ground game, no cardio, s--- standup and no knees. What use is he as a training partner?
He has no real history, training or experience in any aspect of mma. What use is he as a corner man?

Kimbo can go to Japan, go to Hollywood, open a gym, start a clothing company. Skies the limit with those $500,000 checks he got from Elite.

Not sure if you've ever seen a training coach for X part of fighting but the person doesnt actually have to be an incredibly in shape pro fighter themselves to tell you what to do and hold pads up.

Did you say that because Kimbo is African American?
Come on dude! Try to steer your jokes in a different direction next time.

But my point is he doesn't know what to do himself, how can he tell someone else what to do? If you're just going to use him to hold pads while someone hits them whilst being coached by someone else, do you think you can hire a (more than likely) millionaire Kimbo to stand there holding a pad and doing nothing else? any big fat dude could do that equally well for $10 an hour.

With relative failure on the big stage, do you think many people are going to join a Team Kimbo gym, or wear kimbo clothing? Japan or Hollywood are both viable options but they will paying ones, they won't require any of his 500k.

Now come on, lets not start playing the race card. Kimbo was fighting in ghettos, have a look at some of the cars and some of the cash being thrown around on bets. Where do you think the money came from? Stock market investments? The only thing not cool is you trying to make out I have issues with his color.
