Feel like so many of you are putting way too much stock in Chael's collegiate wrestling(and beyond career), his size and raw power and not looking at the rest of the story.
It's a different case, but I remember when so many people were saying the same thing about Lesnar when he fought Cain. "Oh 'his wrestling credentials are so much better, he's huge and his power is insane, if he gets Cain down it's all over(etc, etc)".
GSP is a far superior fighter, sets up his TD's much better and his technique trumps Chael's power all day long. Let's not forget that GSP has a history of fighting better fighters with wrestling throughout his career as well.

Anyone that actually looked at the wrestling technique of Lesnar and Velasquez could clearly see Cain was the better wrestler. In MMA, Brocks wrestling was above average, but he wasn't anything special. Carwin shrugged him off easily until he gassed.
GSP sets up his technique better, but Chaels double leg is one of the best in MMA. If he gets a told of you, it's not just his strength that's taking you down, it's his wrestling technique.

Right, but many(maybe even most) were saying that if Brock got Cain down, it was all over due to his size and power. Most were not giving respect to Cain's technique. Not just on junkie, but most sites.
Also, Chael is well versed in all styles of wrestling, I haven't seen him outside of mma really, but in mma, he's more of a power wrestler more than anything. Not saying he doesn't have technique(because he has shown technique and solid transitions), but he's a guy that will drag you down if need be or plow you into the fence and just lift. He's not a finesse wrestler by any means. I'd take a guy like GSP with his explosive power and far better technique all day long. His stats don't lie either-especially when he's fought the better wrestlers.
And like I previously said, Chael's style once on the ground can be a liability. We don't have to worry about that with GSP.
