Even an old out of shape , skinny, malnourished, senile version of penn gonna beat this guy. Split decision wins over Bruce Leroy and Rosa? Bj should be terrified

My first reaction was similar to most in this thread. Then I got thinking a little. Yair will probably try to put him away spectacularly in the first round or two. But in doing so, two problems arise: will he wear himself out if he does not succeed similar to the Caceras fight? and will the high risk technique/kicks allow for a better chance for BJ to get this to the ground? Complete experience vs inexperience will be a factor that might answer these questions.
I still take Yair by silliness. BJ probably gunna git beat up.

Totally agree, this a very dangerous for BJ,he could take a serious beating here,a thought they would give him someone a lil bit easier, like gray or artem, ishihara,Guida, siver or even see if pulver is willing to come back out for a giggle but someone not yair!!! Someone who can make BJ work but not beat him heavly

The fights they are signing BJ up for tell me the plan is to test him. I don't think they want to deal with BJ the way Bellator deals with legends, like Shamrock and Royce, by giving them fights that protect them and using their name value as a draw. BJ needs to prove he can compete with legitimate competition. If BJ holds his own, (win or lose) he'll be given another fight if he wants it. If he gets battered, Dana's going to give him the "you have nothing left to prove" speech, and put him back out to pasture (either retirement or cutting him to go be another Bellator "attraction".

I don't think BJ would take a safe fight, he is a warrior and wants to challenge himself. Dude went to war with Nick Diaz, who must have had a good 20 pounds on him.
And I don't see BJ going anywhere else. If he gets battered, I think he will walk away. He is joined a good camp and is training hard, he knows this is it.

You are probably right about BJ not wanting an easy fight. As far as going somewhere else, I think that's really dependant on why he's coming back. I assume it's not money (though that's entirely a guess, I have no idea what his spending habits are like), but if he just feels the need to fight, he may not want to walk away yet. If he's back because he thinks he can make another run at the belt, then getting battered is likely to disabuse him of the notion.
That said, I don't see him getting battered unless his skills have atrophied significantly.

You forgot to mention his other fight in 2016. You know, that badass KO of Fili? BJ hasn't won since 2010...I'm a fan myself but people need to be realistic. Kind of like how I learned to be with Conor.

I think Yair is overrated. I think he'd lose against the long dead 'motivated Penn'. Who the f--- knows what sad ghost is going to show up under Penns name? I doubt one that will win this fight. I wonder if Penn could beat anyone on the UFC at this point.

Penn stands a slightly better chance in this fight due to Yair's reckless nature.
Still though.....
BJ vs Siver made sense. Should have been the fight all along. Put him against another aging vet on the downswing of his career.

I know some are sayin he needs to be tested to see if he still got it,yeah still got some of the old BJ there and i know he dont want any easy fights cause thats just BJ but i think there is also a time when a fighter needs to evalute his situation,if BJ wins they will give him a much tougher guy,but i just dont want to see him do a roy jones type thing,he is better than that and i know he has heart but theres a time when fighters need to be protected from them selfs.

I doubt it is about the money, BJ has made a lot and his family is well off.
The one thing that has me thinking this might not be a disaster is that this is the first time (in a long, long time) that Penn has been a part of a real team and not just surrounded by yes-men.
