I remember the PPV (UFC 56, I think) when Dana brought out BJ Penn, Tito Ortiz, Ken Shamrock and Frank Mir as all returned to the UFC, it was a "holy s**t" moment. Surprises can be fun.

I'm not arguing it wouldn't be fun, but rather that it's not possible in the current age. Someone will find out that Penn applied for a license to fight, and boom it's front page news.

Agreed, it just sent me down memory lane. Even if they got past the licensing, weighing in was result in the news breaking the second he was spotted. I take that back, fighters are physically examined days before the fight, that would do it right there.

Bjj brown belt with slick submissions versus bjj blackbelt and former bjj world champion. It's not impossible for old Penn to do this. He did start to learn counter wrestling before his last losses.

It's hard to say how this fight will play out. BJ's losing streak has been against three of the best in the sport including two large welterweights. I think he's too experienced to get caught by Yair's flashy moves, but who knows what BJ will look like coming into this fight. I'd like to know why he's returning at FW instead of LW, where he was most impressive.

Yair will not finish Penn. If he connects with some crazy flying knee or kick then sure, but he'll take a decision at best.

Penn has taken it serious enough to travel to New Mexico, away from his family, to train full time with Jackson/Winklejohn. If Penn loses, it won't be because of poor training.

Tickets are cheap too. Went to the Fox card a couple years back and they were about 50% more expensive.
