Movies/TV (Reviews)

Disagree. There are some terrible parts, but the good parts outweigh the bad. The fight between Obi-Wan & Qui Gon and Darth Maul is the best in the whole series. There are other good aspects as well. And I would watch it over the newer ones. I'll never watch those again.
The Force Awakens was way better than the prequels, granted Star Killer base was a weak plot point. JJ set up an amazing trilogy that Rian Johnson killed with woknesss and terrible story telling.

I can't really comment on the newest trilogy much because I've only watched them once and can't really remember everything. I'm gonna force (lol) myself to watch them all in chronological order and rank them here afterward.

Ngl, I couldn't help but laugh when horrible Anakin saved the day by...blowing up the big ship.

I don't agree at all. I thought I liked The Force Awakens on my first watch, but my second viewing left me feeling that the movie was completely empty of anything original and was just a series of scenes meant to remind you of the old movies. I hate it now. Not as much as the latter two, but I hate all of the new movies except Rogue One. I would watch any of the prequels over them. I wish I could burn them from my memory, to be honest.

Exactly...It reminded the OGs how great SW was and introduce new characters that should've been awesome. Captain Phasma had a CHROME suit...that shit was boss.

I'm glad you brought up Captain Phasma, because that character is a perfect encapsulation of some of what is wrong the new movies. She is a completely hollow character whose sole purpose is to sell toys. She has no depth, no character traits, nothing to make you have any investment whatsoever in her unless you are simply awed by the shiny armor. It's just Brienne of Tarth in a stormtrooper outfit, and her presence is shoehorned in awkwardly.

All of the villains in the new movies are shallower than a leaky kiddie pool. They are cartoonish props that could have been written by a 5th grader. Darth Vader was a great character who had emotional depth and backstory that oozed out of him without saying it. The whole original trilogy had that looming backstory over everything that made it feel deeper than it was, just like Lord of the Rings. The new movies have none of that because they are just a bunch of references and marketing ploys rolled up in a shiny package, much like Captain Phasma.

I hate them and will never watch them again until my kids want to see them. I hate what Disney did to the franchise. There was so much lore ripe for the picking, and they chose woke bullshit and rehashed plots. How the hell have they not done a Knights of the Old Republic style movie yet??!? I get that they are going to make a ton of stuff for kids, but why not roll out some mature storylines? Why not do something new in the history of the lore? Imagine a Neil Blomkamp directed Star Wars. Imagine how awesome that would be. Instead, we have this.....this.....tripe.

Fuck the new Star Wars movies (except Rogue One).

Ya, I remember not being impressed with the last trilogy much. I remember Kylo Ren being annoying to watch. I'm starting to question whether I'll actually continue to watch them all, lol.

I think I started Rogue One and Solo but ended up not watching them all the way through. I could be mistaken. I haven't watched any of the TV shows.

Kylo Ren is a terrible character, and one of the worst antagonists in the whole series. Snoke is even worse. I was in awe of how lazy and cheap the writing was for such a high budget venture. The whole plot is something I would have written as a preteen.

Rogue One was actually good, in my opinion. You should give that one another shot.

Did you watch Andor, the series that happens right before Rogue One? It's GREAT!

That's my point with Rian Joahnson.
JJ set it up with good looming characters, Rey mysterious "Jedi" orpha. .. Kyle Ren, emo kid who of Lei ,& Han who idolized Vader. Finn, soldier turned Rebel. Poe, hot shot pilot. Phasma, Captain of the New Order.
Rian Johnson messed it up. Rey should've been a love child Luke or at least Obi Wans grandkids.
Instead, we get Rey as a meth orphan, Luke hates the force, Phasma has no story, Huks is dumb, Ren is still emo...it started good and ended way bad.

While I agree that the movies got significantly worse after the first, we simply do not agree about the Force Awakens. I feel that all of the characters you mentioned were generic doppelgangers to previous characters in the series, yet with less depth and shittier writing. There is not a single memorable character there for me. I could write you a better movie in a day.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this.

Rogue One and andor are musts. Rogue has one of the greatest darth vader scenes in the history of mankind.
The Mandalorian is also a really good show, it has one of the greatest luke skywalkers , scenes of all time. The last season was meh.
Besides , andor and the mandalorian , the rest of the star war shows are trash.

I watched each of the second trilogy once, hated jar jar and all the actors that played Vader, so never got into the last movies or series. I watched about 30 minutes of the movie where the stormtrooper turncoats and about 30 minutes of the girl skywalker and turned them both off because they sucked. This is coming from a guy who saw Episode 4 in the theatre as a 5 year old and LOVED everything Star Wars for most of my adolescence. I was so disappointed in the second set that I had no reason to continue believing that anything else was just a ploy to sell shit. Sounds like I was not too far from the truth.

Going to The Odyssey on Sunday. I hope some of the reviews I read are not true. Been waiting on this for years and years.
