Crete's Corner

I didn't know that slut went there. watch it pal!!!

she got recruited to their volleyball team and a massive scholarship. aside from that I don't like the school much, we ain't peas and carrots. my daughter was showing me some posts from other kids in the dorm "looking for protest mates." luckily she carries apiece of me to that clown show, before I could begin my protest faggot rant she said "Don't worry dad that's not me."

Atagirl.
All you can do is raise them to the best of your ability. Give them strong moral values and hope they make the right decisions once they get to college. I'm sure she will do just fine.

she'll be fine. we live in an area that's 90% liberal. she knows the crazy that lives at the poles. on the extreme right too...

So, this has been a little more serious of a thread so far than I originally intended but that's not a bad thing. I'm learning a lot about you picklekissers and I actually kind of like it. I'm sure I'll pivot off into some jokes and rants soon enough. But with my soon to be foray into marriage counseling incoming (newsflash, I'm kind of a handful to live with. Who wouldve guessed that?!), and a conversation with a fellow Junkie it got me thinking today...

Crete Thoughts #5:

What is the most important quality in a loving partnership (marriage, significant other, etc) that your partner needs to have for it to be successful?

Now, please note the wording of the question. I'm looking for ONE quality, not a list. We're all adults and know that a relationship requires so many different things. I'm looking for it boiled down to just ONE. And not for relationships to work in general, what ONE quality do YOU need from your partner more than any other for a relationship to be successful? That's the kind of selection that makes for interesting conversation.

For me it's loyalty. I need a partner who I know has my back through it all. That's in the foxhole with me. That I don't even have to think or wonder, I turn and I know they're there.

It's hard, I'm not a very trusting guy and have been burned real badly by people who said they loved me in the past so I'm always looking over my shoulder. Part of the reason we're going to counseling, I can get in my head, shut down, and then try to solo the world while shutting everyone else out and not communicating a word about it until I explode. And that's what I'd pick for my lady, communication. She will admit she is a god awful communicator, but she needs someone who can tell her where they're at at all times and what issues there are.

So, that's mine. Loyalty. And my lady is communication. What're yours?

(Again, pick just fuckin ONE, don't be a fuckin Melvin and make a list)

I don't know if there is a single word to really sum it up but...you really have to like them. Like who they are as a person, like the conversation, like how they smell, all of it. That's one thing I realized after 21 years of marriage is I really like being around my wife. When we travel together and spend 9-10 days never more than 20 feet apart, it just gets better and better. We fall into sync and I would genuinely prefer to always be where she is. I look forward to retiring with her just because I know that's how it will be and I'll just fucking love it. I can't imagine being with anyone long term without enjoying their presence to that degree. Loyalty is super important but if I can't stand to be around you for more than a few hours or a weekend, I don't see how I could be happy.

If for some reason, I ended up in a place where I had to start over again and find someone new, that is the first question I would answer. Do I like being around them all the time?

a buddy from decades back who was a chef said you have to eat corn with beans to really get them to break down. sounded good but idk. maybe @HKOG could tell us, he eats a lot of beans. HK - do you get corn turds?

As for fidouchiary? it's right there in the name.
I've been insanely busy and trying to find the right time to jump into this rapidly changing conversation, but my biggest takeaway so far is that ABB needs to properly chew his food.

I don't think there's a person on earth I could be around 24/7. I realize I'm the problem and it's for my sanity and their physical well being. I just need my alone time.

My wife and I actually schedule alone time. She has shows that she likes that I hate and vice versa, so we have 2 TV nights a week where we are alone. And when on vacation, we actually schedule down time that any of us can use for what we want. I usually go and explore. No clue what they do, haha.

I have the unique ability to be alone anywhere I am. I can be looking right at you and be completely fuckin gone.

"Where'd you go?"

IDK, I really don't. I'm participating in alternate realities where time doesn't exist. A few seconds of mental disappearance in this existence could mean a few lifetimes in a different existence. Remove time and you remove space. Anything is possible.

Does your mind shut off? Mine doesn't until I fall asleep (which I do easily, it is the staying asleep part that I struggle with). I have a buddy who claims that he goes through his day just being in the moment. That his mind is not always working. I wish I could do that.

Have you considered mdma?

A lot of times when I'm driving I'm in auto pilot. I get to a place and don't remember making the turns or having any thoughts or anything in my empty head but it's always places I'm familiar with.

same, it shuts off when I fall asleep and when I mentally disappear for seconds at a time. but even then I don't believe it shuts off, I believe it dives into other forms of consciousness that my awake self in this physical existence hasn't learned to comprehend. it's hard to mentally grab ahold of any "place" that exists without time or space. it doesn't make any sense, but it makes sense. I can't describe it, perhaps it's not meant to be described.

LOL, I did not realize this was ecstasy. Thought it was a supplement of some sort.

I did X once back in 1994 or 1995. Fun night. I remember being perpetually thirsty and sweating my ass off.
don't they call it Molly now?

I did way too much of that shit in the 90s. fun as hell. I think everyone should try that once in their life, it doesn't fall in the addictive category for me
