You know, I wrote a few responses to this. I've deleted them all. You're a waste of time to argue with. You want to insult my experience? Go for it. Have fun. I've listed my background on another thread and what I do. I've never claimed to be a pro fighter or even a good fighter, but as a Karateka myself I have an understanding of what Machida is doing. Of course, my decades of Karate mean nothing to you. No one's experience means anything to you.

Right now Rampage is the only one with the tools to do it. Rashad has as good a chance as anyone but I think both Rampage and Lyoto would outclass him, Greg Jackson gameplan or not. Rampage's tight boxing, ability to cut off the cage, and wreck counter strikers shows that (on paper atleast) he should be able to hang. As far as ground game, Rampage is not on the same level as Machida but I don't believe Machida wants any part of Rampage on the ground. Heres why:
1: Slam KO over Richardo Arona
2: His strength will allow him to power out of alot of sub attempts, if they can even get him on the ground. Rampage was doing a seminar in Lakewood, Ca one time and he allowed a BJJ Blackbelt to get him into a keylock and he nearly threw the guy across the mat as he powered out of it. Rampage is insanely strong and I don't think Machida would try to take him down.
All that leaves is the stand up. Its really up the in air but Rampage has handled one of the best strikers in MMA history (Chuck) pretty easily twice and Chuck was notorious for his counter striking. While its completely accurate to compare Chuck to Machida, its the closest comparision we have to a fighter Rampage has already fought. I think if Rampage can cut off the cage and not let Machida dance around him he has a chance. His KO ability and hand speed are nothing to sneeze at and I think if Rampage is able to land that one clean shot the tides will change.

Arona made a simple mistake in BJJ. When you go for the Triangle you are suppose to "Grapple" the leg when someone is trying to pick you up.
Page hasn't slammed anyone in years, though he attempted to slam Griffin. Machida has the most accurate striking at LHW.

Ya but Chuck's counter striking is not even in the same hemisphere as Machida's. Chuck doesn't throw faints like Machida does. Machida throws like 5 faints for every strike it seems like. You never really know where the strike is coming from. Chuck also doesn't mix up his strikes like Machida, you rarely see Chuck throw a kick. There is also no danger of a TD with Chuck and even if there was it wouldn't come from the clinch. The ONLY similarity is a very general use of the term "counter striker" but if you break it down any further than that, you have two COMPLETELY different fighters.

That is exactly what I foresee Rampages plan against machida. Cutting the corners and slowly stalking him. If Machida wants to continue to keep backing up allowing Rampage to keep moving forward....Well Rampage wins the fight on Octogon Control alone.
Rampage will cut off angles and will take his time.

Well You do know his odds will run out one day. And I will be there to point it out to all the Fedor fans who think he is god.
Fedor doesnt exactly look like Arnold. He looks like bob the hobo at the local gin mill down the street from me.

I know what your saying Big_boy and its not going to be easy, but I think Rampage is the only person left that can challenge him at LHW. Rampages style has been proven to work against counter strikers. And yes, Arona may have made a mistake, but when fighting at the level these guys are then thats all it takes is one mistake. I think if this fight ever happenes, it will be alot more competetive than people think. We'll have to see how Rampage handles Jardines awkward style, but if he dominates Jardine I think it will open alot of peoples eyes to how much Rampage has progressed even since his fight with Forrest. There's no arguement about Machidas accuracy, but you have to wonder if he has what it takes to fade up Rampage. If im not mistaken, Rampage has only had problems with overly aggressive fighters in the past, and he seems to have gotten over that. While I do believe that Forrest beat Rampage, I don't think he'll make the same mistake again and just let someone dance aroud him and pepper him with jabs and leg kicks.

I used Chuck as an example because his style is the closest to Machidas out of anyone that Rampage has fought, even if its kind of a long shot. If you have a better example go ahead and share it.
