Most of the actors did a great job; lil Leia and Ewan killed it! I was perfectly happy while watching each episode.

I didn't like it!
The main issue for me, and for most SW "purist," was the whole "character deconstruction" of the beloved Obi-Wan Kenobi character in this series.
If you don't care anything about "character deconstruction" on an already established character, then you are the lucky one who can enjoy most of the stuff Hollywood throws at you now-a-days.

I'm definitely not a SW purist. I just thought it was a decent story about a Jedi that went into hiding, skills/confidence waned over time, and had to work his way through it. It wasn't bad to me.

I just finished Ep 9 of Andor...holy shit! So far, this is one of the best series I've ever watched.

The "prison" chapter is ridiculously well done. Andy Serkis absolutely slayed the assignment!

Such an intimate showing of the Empire's oppression that spurred the rebellion.

Three more episodes to go, but I would say 10/10 if I stopped right here.
 
Mortal Kombat II

6/10

It seems like most people liked this one better than the first one, mostly due to it kind of following the video games more. But I liked the first one way more. This one felt a lot more like the original 90s movies, and I'm pretty sure that's what they were going for. IDK, I just liked the more serious tone of the first one, but I know I'm probably in the minority on that.


X-Men 97 Season 2

Just started this last night and watched the first 2 episodes. Just as good as season 1 so far, and from what I've heard and read online it stays that way. I love the lore of Apocalypse, so this story line is right up my alley.
 
3 recommended shows I'm currently watching:

Furious - Disney/Hulu
Westies - MGM +
Lucky - Apple TV

All excellent so far. All have a major flaw which is only 1 episode per week. That shit is retarded in this day and age.
 
3 episodes into s2 of Andor. Mon and Luthen are stealing the show so far. Top-tier acting from both continued from s1. Facial acting from these two seem a cut above, but everyone in these series seems to nail it. Very much recommended.

I'm so done with all Star Wars and Marvel shit. Like I just want to go and see the new Spiderman movie but I'll bet I needed to see 13 different Marvel shows on Disney to understand what is happening. I'm not watching it. So I'm screwed.
 
Took the family to Spider-Mang and The Odyssey this weekend (rain/flooding canceled all our outdoor plans).

Enjoyed both, but The Odyssey could have really used some editing. That movie did not need to be 3 hours. It ended up delivering by the end credits, but there were multiple times where I wanted a "wrap it up" box to move the long tracking shots along.

As far as Spidy, it was iight but I felt like a lot of the action scenes were ripped straight from the video games. At first it was like, "that was a nice homage", but after awhile it felt like they were lifting a lot of stuff from the games because they were out of original ideas. Thought it was one of the better MCU movies though, glad they avoided the multiverse for the most part because I have no idea that is going on with any of it.
 
I took the family to see Spidy yesterday, and we all enjoyed the movie.
I give it a solid 8.8/10!
"Story wise," this is my favorite Spidy movie. "Action wise," I still prefer "No Way Home."
FYI....there is only one end of credit scene!
 
Obsession 9/10 - Might be in my top 3 favorite horror movies. Unique, unsettling, creepy. It's amazing what you can do when you just take a great actor and have them say and do unnerving things. Just the way Indie Navarrete moves in certain scenes, the use of reversed footage, slight voice modification and uncanny make up. Really small, easy, changes that dial up the creepy factor the right amount. I've seen it twice and I'll probably watch it again soon. I hope this is a sign of things to come from Curry Barker.
 
The Odyssey 8.5/10 - I definitely need to see this again. I saw it on an IMAX screen (Not 70 mm full resolution IMAX) and it was great. The theater was cold AF though. AC was blowing right on me. Still, it was epic. People complain about the volume. It wasn't any louder than other films I've seen in IMAX. People complain about the length. Felt slightly slow the first 20 minutes and the AC didn't help but I was engaged the whole movie. I didn't really notice the length.

The Cyclops was cool AF but I wish they'd used a Greek cyclops. 😉

Nolan has thrown out the idea of doing a horror film and the scene with Xerxes has me hoping he will go for it.

Matt Damon felt like a different actor here. In so many films he just seems like a regular Boston guy playing some dude from Boston who might be a cop, a spy, or a thief. He felt like someone else in this movie.

Zendaya played Zendaya again.

Tom Holland got out-acted by everyone

John Leguizamo should get a supporting actor nom at least.

Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattison were rock solid

This is a thoroughly entertaining movie that looked and sounded great and made me feel something by the end. It's right up there with all the other Nolan films. Not my favorite from him but a must watch if you do a Nolan marathon.

Also, when she's standing in the shadow of the doorway talking, the way they kind of light her eyes, just enough to see them but not really.
