I started watching Widow's Bay on Apple TV last night. Only watched the first episode but it was pretty good. It's listed as a horror/comedy and I think that's a pretty accurate description for it. It's about this very small harbor town and a fairly new mayor has taken office. One of the locals goes missing, and that brings up old legends about bad things that have happened in the past, but the mayor doesn't believe in them. It was a good set up, and it seems to be pretty good so I'll definitely watch the rest this week.

Finish the season. It's a lot of ridiculous fun. Horror/Comedy is exactly what it is and I've never seen anything quite like it. Genuinely scary in some places mixed with some well-place humor. Blending those two together could easily feel forced and clunky but they really nail it with this show. Season 1 is solid throughout and I'm excited about a season 2.

Widow's Bay 8.5/10 for me.
 
Spiderman - Brand New Day - 9/10. Best Marvel movie/series/etc since Endgame. Saw it in 3D instead of Imax and really, really enjoyed that. Wasn't the typical superhero movie, but had a really good plot, plot twist, and redeeming ending while introducing a great new part of the next generation. The end also finally confirmed what Tom Holland mistakenly let out of the bag in like 2018, lol.

I've been dodging spoilers, lol. I want to go watch it, but theater seats are fucking garbage! I dished out for the "luxury recliners" once for fkn Avatar 3...half of them didn't work, and when they did, they were still the most uncomfortable way to watch a 3 hr movie ever. I prefer my recliner....

Not much to recommend, I mainly watched it out of curiosity, but it was fine. Decent cast. A bit too long maybe. Mrs. Brick fell asleep, thoroughly unimpressed. Might have been the wine, though.

years ago my son had a few buddies over for a sleep over. they wanted to watch a cool movie and I came across the old school Arnie RM so I pumped em up and put it on. They made it about 2 min to the helicopter scene and started laughing. Said it looked like the weird retarded German guy filmed the scene in his garage with his dog as the camera man.

"Had electricity been invented when they filmed this movie?"

GTFO bastards.

Yeah, same with the 6th sense. I pumped it up and said it was great to some friends of mines kids. A soon as the kid meets Bruce Willis they said, "oh, hes a ghost." I was like WTF!? How did you know!!!

To be fair, TV shows were referencing pop culture events long before social media... but, I feel like they were a bit more clever about it.

Old school Simpsons for example.

They would have clever references like this:



It's a reference to The Fugitive, but if you hadn't seen the movie it wouldn't have ruined it for you.

(if you watch the movie after seeing that scene though you'll be like, ahhhhhh it makes sense!)




Now, I'll hear my wife watching a TikTok and the creator will be like, "damn, that was a crazy reveal, it's just like Bruce Willis being a ghost in Sixth Sense!"


I get it, Sixth Sense came out over 25 years ago so the overt spoiler isn't doing any financial damage to ticket sales... but, if you're a young kid and haven't gotten around to seeing it, well, thanks for ruining it?

My son watches spoilers all day on YT.
He'll be amped to watch a movie, see the spoilers and then say "I don't want to see it anymore ".
