Volume was like of jacked up at the theater I saw it at. It wasn't unwatchable or anything, but there were multiple times where my wife and I looked at each other like, "wtf, why is this so unnecessarily loud?"
Agreed about the length, it's clearly billed as being 3 hours and you should be prepared for that going in. Complaining about the length is odd. I did think they could have shaved a good 20-25 minutes off and not lost much (most movies are this way, even good ones), but it wasn't egregious to the point where they could have told the complete story in 1:45.
Agreed to all of the above.The Cyclops was cool AF but I wish they'd used a Greek cyclops.
Nolan has thrown out the idea of doing a horror film and the scene with Xerxes has me hoping he will go for it.
Matt Damon felt like a different actor here. In so many films he just seems like a regular Boston guy playing some dude from Boston who might be a cop, a spy, or a thief. He felt like someone else in this movie.
Yea, I don't hate her as an actress or anything... but, she was a poor choice for that particular role.
Him and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) were odd casting choices. I like them both as actors, but those were weird roles to see them in... especially when they are both in Spider Man and it's showing at the same time.
Pattison was so good. My wife was like, "I wanted to kill him, he sucked!" and I was like, "yes! That's the point!"
I enjoyed it as well. I don't know that I'd put it ahead of Memento, Interstellar or The Prestige... but it was a well shot and mostly well acted movie.

Intersellar is one of my all-time favorite movies but I have a scifi preference. That might be impossible for him to top from my perspective. I think I enjoyed the Odyssey more than the Prestige. I need to see Memento again. It's been a very long time. I thought adding Odysseus's realization that the Trojan Horse contributed to the downfall of society by abusing Zeus's law was brilliant. I don't believe that angle is in the original story

The original story does delve into the Greek concept of 'xenia' (hospitality, good manners, treat others as you would like to be treated), but Nolan definitely put a modern spin on it by tying it to Troy and the Trojen Horse.
Odysseus never expresses any guilt over the Trojen horse in Homer's work. The main regret/guilt that Odysseus does experience is over the loss of his men and especially how reckless he was towards the Cyclops (going out of his way to piss it off when it was clearly a son of Poseidon, which fucked his journey at sea up 6 ways from Sunday).
I know that some reviewers were pissed off that Nolan didn't spend more time establishing the various Gods, but I thought he had enough in there to let the audience figure it out if their brain was turned on and they were thinking.
I really enjoyed his interpretation (even if I felt 20-30 minutes could have been shaved off and not much lost) and the way he wrapped everything up in the end. I thought the last 30-40 minutes in particular were a masterpiece and right up there with Nolans best work.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 1. Might be early, but it was a complete set-up episode that actually had some strange direction for a few characters. Had some fun and cute Ted-isms, so if you are a fan of the show like I am, you won't mind the slower pace and reversal of reality from previous episodes for a few characters. The episode doesn't really give you the feels like some of their best work.
I really enjoyed Ted's interaction with a former player who is grown up.
7/10 because I am a fan. 5/10 if you are just ok with the show. If you are starting here, you might consider not continuing because you have ot know these characters to appreciate where they are now.

I thought it was a waste of an epsiode and very bizarre at points... Ted working part time at a grocery store was completely out of left field, as was the stuff with his son and the soccer team he's on... not to mention the ex-wifes inexplicably weird decision at the end of the episode.
But hey, we got to see the Negro Baseball League museum and hear a dozen jokes about how Kansas City is part of both Missouri and Kansas!
I hope that we get 2-3 decent episodes out of this season, but I'm not too optimistic that we'll even get that.

Correct.
After season 3 ended i went back and watched season 1 to see if it was actually good, or, if I was suffering from some kind of COVID lockdown psychosis... it started a bit slow, but was really good the rest of the way thru.
I don't know if they changed the writers room midway thru season 2 or what, but it went off the rails and started to become bland.
Season 3 was almost a parody of everything that season 1 was, it's like they kept the cast but changed everyone involved with the creative aspects of the show.

Excellent writing, excellent direction, and excellent acting by damn near everyone that appears in the show, no matter how small the part. While lacking lightsabers and the force, I can't see any further Star Wars content being as well done as this.
Still, I continue on with Rogue One.

Obsession: saw it again with Mrs.Rhino/lobos. She stayed awake the whole time, so thats something. She thought rhe girl was good but the rest was mid. 1 thing that bothers me is the

The Running Man remake. Much more aligned with the book, and better than that shitfest Arnold version (although Richard Dawson was iconically outstanding in that movie). Not much to recommend, I mainly watched it out of curiosity, but it was fine. Decent cast. A bit too long maybe. Mrs. Brick fell asleep, thoroughly unimpressed. Might have been the wine, though.
