2. @Tito Orcheese
A. Jared Leto
Jared Leto started his acting career in 1994 with a tv role in
My So-Called Life. In 1997, Leto had what most would call his breakout moment when he portrayed Steve Prefontaine in...
Prefontaine. He went on to act in supporting roles in various hit movies, including
Fight Club and
American Psycho, over the next few years before landing another leading role in
Requiem for a Dream. I point all this out to emphasize that, even though he did technically start a band in 1998, he was known for his acting; most people were largely unaware of his band.
Leto's band, 30 Seconds to Mars, did not gain mainstream attention until the release of their single "The Kill' in 2006. While he never quit acting, the popularity of this single and success of the album, which ended up selling over four million copies worldwide, solidified his and the band's status as legitimate successes in the music industry. They've went on to release four more albums since, while selling over 15 million albums worldwide. They are still actively performing as well, having recently wrapped up a tour in North America, with a European tour planned in 2027.
Here is the music video for their single "The Kill," which has amassed 324 million views.
cmvideo75: Good pick here even though I hate his band. But they are certainly big and taken seriously as a music act. He's probably one of the biggest crossovers to have success in both areas... he might even be bigger in music. But I've always kind of considered him as both an actor a musician because he's done both from early on... technically a little earlier with the acting but it's not by a lot. Some of the other entries are really career actors that then dabbled. 4/5
Webble: Pure coincidence but I watched Requim for a Dream for the first time this weekend ( I think inspired by an idol entry ). Teenage Webble had quite the crush on Leto in My So Called Life and I do like 30STM 5/5
Brick: I knew he had a band, but had never heard any of the songs so this was a new experience. I did know that it was reasonably well regarded as not just some celebrity circle-jerk. This song is competently done, but happens to be exactly the type of rock I can’t stand (emo whiney bitch stuff). So, even though I hated the song, I guess the numbers don’t lie and make this a category fit, definitely a successful “venture” into music. 3.5/5.
GoodCat: I like 30 Seconds To Mars a lot, or at least I like their hit radio singles. Never dove too deep into their discography, but I did see them open for Muse about 10 years ago and they also put on a pretty good show as well. As I mentioned in the previous write up, I wanted to see Keanu Reeves, or Kevin Bacon, or maybe an athlete turned musician. But these picks have still been pretty good. And I'm gonna give this one the edge due to my personal bias about the music 4/5

B. Corey Feldmen
Corey Feldmen found fame as an actor in the 80s for roles in films such as
The Goonies,
Stand by Me, and
The Lost Boys. He got into the music industry in the early 90s, releasing six albums through 2021. There really isn't much to say here. There's no verifiable sales numbers that exist for his music, but we do know he has never attained Gold or Platinum status with any of his albums. If you look into it, the music industry only tends to recognize that he actually even makes music to mention how bad it is. I believe his album in 2016 did win a couple awards for worst album of 2016 and worst album of 2010s. I think you might be able to see him perform at some low-end music festivals and state fairs if you want to make a decision for yourself...or you can just watch these videos. Good luck.
His most popular music video:
A live performance on the Today Show (I wonder who approved this decision):
Finally...whatever this is:
cmvideo75: Oh man, just a perfect entry here. The fact that there are 6 Corey Feldman albums are amazing. I don't even know what he is trying to do... yet he keeps doing it, and people keep showing up. Amazing. And THANK YOU for that guitar solo. That was fantastic. 5/5
Webble: this is another one I didn’t know about it was hilarious, I did think it was a joke with the first video and was waiting for it to start properly but no that was genuinely it 4/5
Brick: Good lord. I really wish you had submitted just one; the first one would have been enough to win the category. Instead you made us suffer through four examples. Asshole. 4.5/5.
GoodCat: This was one of the ones I had in mind when thinking of terrible music from a celebrity. And what's worse is the dude is dead serious and thinks he is a legit rockstar. I think some celebs that do a mailed in pop song lean into the cheesiness of it and are at least somewhat part of the joke, but Corey acts like he thinks he is actually good. You definitely hit a homerun with this category. 5/5
